Related: About this forumWill Willard be allowed to bus in his activists at the upcoming debates like he did at Univision
after he threw his tantrum? Will the President be allowed to have his supporters there? I'm not happy at all with Crowley, Bob Schieffer and whoever else they have from the right running these debates, but I do hope the Dems make a few rules. Is this open attendance with tickets to anyone?

(52,152 posts)all the debates except the town hall will have a crowd where equal numbers of tickets are given to each campaign. The town hall will be entirely undecided voters supplied by the people running the debates.

(5,818 posts)according to the source quoted below.
For example, the town hall format debate on Oct 16th, where the audience will ask the questions, will distribute tickets as described at http://www.hofstra.edu/debate/debate_tickets.html .
Each of the four debates will take place at a college or university. As happened at the recent Univision forum for Romney, a problem can arise when there is insufficient student interest to fill all the seats reserved for students. Fortunately, since the debates are being staged primarily for TV, audiences will be fairly small and there should be no problem filling seats through a student lottery system.

From http://www.2012presidentialelectionnews.com/2012-debate-schedule/2012-presidential-debate-schedule/ :
"Tickets for each debate are controlled by the Commission on Presidential Debates and are extremely limited since the debates are primarily produced for television. The majority of tickets are distributed to host university students and faculty through a lottery system. Please click the 'Tickets' link next to the college name listed below for further information."

(34,857 posts)Both candidates will be allowed to bring their own supporters and the crowd will be told they can't cheer, clap, holler, boo or make any other noise outside the initial applause at the beginning and the applause when the debate ends.
The only exception, of course, will be when they're asking questions during the town hall forum, which is generally filled with undecideds.

(89,239 posts)remember how Romney never did that well in debates but he always seemed to get an applause. it never matched the real support and enthusiasm and crowd turnout which other candidates got more of.

(20,450 posts)Republican debates? Get ready. If Robme can get away with it when it's the Republican primaries, don't think that the Corporate Media will say anything about this cheating for the upcoming debates.

(4,551 posts)They have let their guard down too many times lately and let Romney get away with too much.
Members of the public who haven't heard the true story about what happened at Univision may get the impression that Romney is more popular than Obama because of the more enthusiastic response he got from the audience.
