Young Voter Confronts Hillary Clinton: People My Age Say You're 'Dishonest' + Video Clip

Hillary Clinton had a message Monday night for a young supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) who said young people didn’t trust Clinton: Don’t get distracted.

At a CNN town-hall event Monday night, a student confronted the former secretary of state about the perception that she is dishonest.

“I’ve heard from quite a few people my age that say you’re dishonest,” the supporter said, describing himself as a supporter of Sanders.

He proceeded to ask her about what he perceived as an enthusiasm gap among young people for Clinton’s campaign vs. Sanders’.

Clinton said she was “totally happy to see young people involved in any way.” But she said she wanted voters to know that she thought she was frequently attacked because she fights for progressive causes.

“I’ve been around a long time — people have thrown all kinds of things at me,” Clinton said. “I can’t keep up with it. They come up with these outlandish things, they make these charges, I just keep going forward because there’s nothing to it. They throw all this stuff at me, and I am still standing.

"But if you’re new to politics and this is the first time you’ve really paid attention, you go, ‘Oh, my gosh, look at all of this.’ And you have to say to yourself, 'Why are they throwing all of that?’ I’ll tell you why: I’ve been on the frontlines of change and progress since I was your age,” she continued. “I have been fighting to give kids and women and the people who have been left out and left behind the chance to make the most of their own lives.”

Though Clinton remains the Democratic front-runner in many national polls and leads among older Democratic voters, Sanders remains far more popular among younger Democratic voters in polls.

Hillary supporters:

1) Benefit from the status quo.
2) Have not been harmed (yet) by the status quo.
3) Want a female prez sooo badly.
4) Really do not understand the problems we face (thank you, MSM!)
5) Some combination of the above.

Oh, they will say she's "qualified", but the reality is...one of the above applies.

its hers. If she really resonated you would be great numbers everywhere. You aren't and it would be good to consider why. No one can make someone like or vote for someone they don't. She just doesn't have it and in the end the caucus in Iowa will tell the story. NH is already a lost cause for her. How is any of this anyone's fault but her own?

She list it as one of her litmus test for Supreme court justice selection. Then again she said the TPP was the gold standard and spun on that too. Took money or Bill did not sure which one, from the folks pushing the keystone and then turned on them for the time being. It may be still a political chip for her to use with the Republicans when she want something. For me that is the larger issue, I think she would sell out liberal values to make her shit fly. Again that is just my opinion so all you Clinton fans stop before you start please. Don't ask for links or proof that she will sell us out although I could probably make the case.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/09/07/AR2007090702780.html

When Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton flew to New Delhi to meet with Indian business leaders in 2005, she offered a blunt assessment of the loss of American jobs across the Pacific. "There is no way to legislate against reality," she declared. "Outsourcing will continue. . . . We are not against all outsourcing; we are not in favor of putting up fences."

Two years later, as a Democratic presidential hopeful, Clinton struck a different tone when she told students in New Hampshire that she hated "seeing U.S. telemarketing jobs done in remote locations far, far from our shores."

The two speeches delivered continents apart highlight the delicate balance the senator from New York, a dedicated free-trader, is seeking to maintain as she courts two competing constituencies: wealthy Indian immigrants who have pledged to donate and raise as much as $5 million for her 2008 campaign and powerful American labor unions that are crucial to any Democratic primary victory.

Yep, you're a real fighter, Hill.

and the gal helping me -- she was maybe 19 -- noticed my Bernie button. She volunteered that she was voting for Bernie and said she "didn't trust" Hillary, citing Whitewater (!) as one case against her honesty. I have to admit I was surprised and a little taken aback at that reference.

I have heard the "trust" issue from several under 25 folks -- now I am curious to do a little drilling down on how they came to that view. Is it something that they just "absorbed" from their upbringing or from information gathering they have engaged in.

So yes, some of us do the homework. No, my parents did not support Clinton but neither did they believe the conspiracy theories that surrounded them. Basically, they were independents, so I doubt I absorbed much from them. And now I identify much further left than they ever did.

They didn't ask why she chose to have the owner of one of DC's biggest lobbying firm as her Campaign Chairman... Or what impact the hundreds of thousands of dollars she's taken from the same firm - a firm which represents weapons manufacturers, big pharma and Saudi Arabia - would have on her foreign policy.

Or if she can explain why countries and Weapons Manufacturers that donated to the the Clinton Foundation, including giving cash to her husband to speak, were twice as likely to get State Department approval for weapons sales - even states with huge human rights violations - as countries and firms that didn't, while she was Secretary of State. And why she approved weapons sales to oppressive regimes at a much higher rate than even Bush did after 9/11, well. Firms that donated to the Clinton Foundation.

Theres plenty of evidence of systemic corruption, this guy just didn't ask the right questions.

Anytime a questioner says the word dishonest, even as it was asked there, it's never a good thing because all that people hear is "dishonest." Nothing else will even register after that. And her answer didn't really address the question anyway.
