2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumChelsea Clinton says Jeb Bush demonstrates "strong American values"
<snip>
One woman asked her who she would pick "if she had to pick a Republican opponent," an attendee told CNN.
Clinton "talked about how she thinks that Jeb Bush is ... the only voice on the other side that is demonstrating strong American values," the source said.
The former first daughter "mentioned how this is her first election as a mother and how important women's rights are to her and the campaign," the source added. Clinton announced last month that she and husband Marc Mezvinsky are expecting their second child this summer.
It was obvious Clinton wasn't going to be riding along with the group, the attendee said, because she was dressed in normal clothes, not the Soul Cycle uniform of spandex pants and tops. Clinton cited no specific reason for why she wasn't going to ride.
Chelsea Clinton repeatedly touted her mother's discipline and consistency, and acknowledged the challenge her mother, Hillary Clinton, is facing from Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.
The fundraiser was originally billed as a $2,700-a-head event, but with about 60 seats to fill, some attendees were able to snag tickets at the last minute for $50. Riders pedaled stationary bikes to the beat of tunes like Guns N' Roses' "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten, the latter a part of Hillary Clinton's campaign play list.

But perhaps Chelsea and other Clintons don't like those values as much as the rest of us Democrats do as well.

I certanly wouldn't expect ANY Democrat to be praising that Criminal Family. But the Bushes, the Trumps and the Clintons are all good friends, the political theater the Corp Media forces on its viewers, the few they have left, is merely to try to distract people. I'm sure all those good friends go home and laugh at the act they are putting on for the plebs. They shouldn't we know what they are up to now.

(36,988 posts)The private invite to Chelsea Clintons Wednesday night fund-raiser, to be held at a swanky Upper East Side residence, reads that its in support of her mothers 2016 presidential bid. But some of the big spenders plunking down the big bucks to attend say Chelseas future in politics has been the talk of her campaign rallies.
Youre seeing the beginning of Chelsea Clinton preparing to run, says a donor who attended Chelseas rally at Dr. Paul Boskinds Midtown home last week, where limited availability guest entry started at $250 and $2,700 champion tickets included a photo with Chelsea. Our insider says: A dynasty is on the way.

Shes clearly politically adept, says our Clinton supporter. People at these rallies think shes prime for a run.

(25,225 posts)The presumptive candidates going into the primary season were Jeb and Hillary. The establishment can live with either of these two candidates. So it really doesn't matter to them which of the two win. Trump and Bernie are upsetting the apple cart for the establishment. That is why both parties are trying to undermine the campaigns of both of them. Fortunately - The People are fed up with the establishment and are giving them fits by supporting Trump and Bernie. A 'political revolution' is in the making and it is scaring the hell out of the establishment.
I'm very pleased that Bernie is doing so well. Not so pleased that Trump is doing so well. However, if Bernie is given the opportunity to face Trump - I believe that Bernie would win. But I fear that in the end - somehow - someway - the two nominees will ultimately be Jeb and Hillary. I sure do hope not - but - TPTB seem to be pushing hard to realize that end. If it does come to that folks - you really have to wonder - what the hell is going on in the backrooms?
How else do you account for Jeb - who has screwed up every opportunity he has thus far into this primary with his lackluster campaign - and he still hasn't dropped out and is still sitting on a pile of money and support? How else do you account for the Dem establishment continually taking shots at Bernie and trying to undermine him any way they can. (Think Pelosi's comments on single payer).
I think a lot is riding on the backs of the Millennial's. They need to come out in great numbers to change the complexion of this race. I only hope that they are smarter than me and my generation. Back when I was their age - I was so wrapped up into me that I didn't get politically involved. I regret that now. I and my generation are responsible for Ronald Reagan and the beginning of the end of the middle class and the rise of the 1%.
I wish somebody would have kicked me in the butt and said that I needed to pay attention. Nobody did. That's why - every opportunity I have I talk to as many young people as I could and try and tell them they need to pay attention and get politically involved. They and their offspring are the future and they need to make sure that they don't wind up a couple of decades later regretting that they didn't get out the vote. It will be their children and our grandchildren that will suffer.

(5,648 posts)I don't know about the "strong American values" part because I don't know how Chelsea defines those values. Maybe she is talking about JebBush being a good family man and his attitude about illegal immigrants which has helped him with the radical Republican base. I don't know.
However, Bush is the best of the current dysfunctional Republican candidates. In a game of name your poison, Bush is the best of a bad lot, but that's not saying much. I certainly prefer him over his wise ass brother.
But, come one folks, I understand why you want tear down the Clintons, but this is somewhat of a reach. It's not that I mind that you are attacking Chelsea - she's a big girl and she has immersed herself in the fray, so she fair game. But do you condemn Bernie Sanders when he says something nice about an opponent?

Address to the Nation on the Invasion of Iraq (January 16, 1991)
George H. W. Bush
Just 2 hours ago, allied air forces began an attack on military targets in Iraq and Kuwait. These attacks continue as I speak. Ground forces are not engaged.
This conflict started August 2d when the dictator of Iraq invaded a small and helpless neighbor. Kuwaita member of the Arab League and a member of the United Nationswas crushed; its people, brutalized. Five months ago, Saddam Hussein started this cruel war against Kuwait. Tonight, the battle has been joined.

transcript: President Clinton explains Iraq strike
CLINTON: Good evening.
Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.

10:16 P.M. EST
THE PRESIDENT: My fellow citizens, at this hour, American and coalition forces are in the early stages of military operations to disarm Iraq, to free its people and to defend the world from grave danger.
On my orders, coalition forces have begun striking selected targets of military importance to undermine Saddam Hussein's ability to wage war. These are opening stages of what will be a broad and concerted campaign. More than 35 countries are giving crucial support -- from the use of naval and air bases, to help with intelligence and logistics, to the deployment of combat units. Every nation in this coalition has chosen to bear the duty and share the honor of serving in our common defense.

Ya know, I read that and asked myself, "How would you answer that question?" I thought about every pub that ran in this campaign, and they're ALL crazy! 1) say that none of the Republicans were suitable for office, or
2) say Trump or Cruz, since if you want to endorse a Pub to poison his chances, you'd pick one of the top two in the polls, no? Why pick Bush, who's been a no-go from the beginning?
