That is one crabby guy. His demeanor was let's say "crabby". The electorate in general does not like a crabby guy. One of the most important part of sales is presentation. Whether anyone on this site wants to admit it people want to vote for someone they like. Reagan, Clinton and Obama all had sunny dispositions. That is how you win over people. Bernie talks to the true believers.

(23,720 posts)Cause from what I've been reading here- he's been on a tear lately. Why, I expect any day now we'll hear about him walking the streets of White Chapel District at night and murdering London's prostitutes.

(115,674 posts)to see the crabby guy, and that the crabby guy has received money from more donors than any candidate in history? Maybe those people either (a) don't find him to be crabby, or (b) like his positive message even though he doesn't have a fixed, phony grin on his face all the time?

(46,179 posts)Perhaps the OP might be a bit concerned about the enthusiasm and large numbers generated by the crabby guy.

(4,528 posts)did you see the session with Al Hunt. Here is the problem yo people can't even be honest with yourselves. You are blinded by your "love" for his message. watch the tape. that is one crabby guy.

(41,600 posts)It's the MSM. They're CORRUPT. Bernie knows that. He also knows they're bought and paid for to do HRH's bidding. Who cares if he's crabby to the same media that's trying to take him down? I don't! I LOVE that he doesn't take their crap. They deserve to be put in their place. They're CORRUPT! And Al Hunt is an asshole. I also happen to think his crabbiness extends from the fact that he knows exactly how CORRUPT the entire system is. It pisses him off. It pisses me off.
I find crabbiness endearing when it's for a good reason.

(47,803 posts)Lot of rage in there. She is a good enough performer to then give her little laugh, and put on her happy mask. But it's there.
When Bernie gets pissed he lets you know it. In the same way that most people do.

(47,803 posts)Unlike a Bill Clinton, who keeps his temper behind the scenes, but in public just oozes charm while misleading you.
But hey, if Bernie's demeanor annoys you, don't vote for him,..Donald Trump is kind of entertaining. And Jeb seems easygoing.

(4,259 posts)Don't let him scare you. Helluva a nice guy.
Sunny Ronald Reagan ruined this country. You're good with that because he had a 'sunny disposition'? I almost can't bear that horse shit.
wilt the stilt
(4,528 posts)A sunny disposition allows you to get more accomplished and that is one of the key factors why Reagan was so successful. I hate Reagan but that doesn't blind me to analyzing him. One must divorce themselves from their emotions in order to provide an accurate understanding of one's success.
Bernie biggest problem will be getting people to like him who aren't true believers. Whether you like it or not it is a sales job.

(42,862 posts)It's clear who his "audience" is. I get it. They like it, echo it, and amp-it-up. But for me, it's not an appealing characteristic, and I think it's something that would not serve well the person who holds the office of POTUS.

(60,334 posts)Personally, I don't look to either type as leaders. I don't think we want either type to run the country.
People have been told they are angry at their government to the point that they think angry or grumpy or crazy is the answer.
It's a dangerous trend.
I see Sanders and the Grumpy Old Man. He would be out there telling kids to get off the White House lawn.

(5,275 posts)fucking 'crabby'...'get off the lawn'....etc. is all some people have as if those characterizations have a goddam thing to do with the POTUS....
apparently, it is lost on such posts that those are merely opinions/observations of people trying to find any form of defamation they can tie to someone...
and when the shoe gets on the other foot...accusations of being anti-feminist, misogynistic, or worse, etc....they must have an auto-response auto-fill reply function...
and, I'll admit freely that it works both ways...
it must be a painful thought process for some to acknowledge...no wait, realize but NOT acknowledge that many Americans are tired of the way things are going and don't want any more of it...
we are looking for that change, the one that hasn't come and, to a great degree, isn't even being offered as a choice...unless we push against the PTB....
we may not get it this time, we sure as hell didn't get as much of it last time as we were expecting, but we WILL push...
it's all about choices and there is no way we will ever all agree....I just hope at some point the fucking coach gets us in the locker room and reminds us that we have a common shared goal...

The FACT that HRC fits the bill is one of her uncomfortable truths...
What is the alternative...to not address the problem? To act like it doesn't exist? To deny that is problem the single most influential aspect of our broken democracy?
You WOULD agree that campaign finance, huge corporate financial involvement with politicians, etc. IS a problem, wouldn't you?

Thanks, but I'll take crabby and competent any day.
wilt the stilt
(4,528 posts)It has to do with selling yourself. People buy from people. Reagan was successful because people liked him. The first thing in sales is the impression you give off. The vibe. Bernie has to appeal to more than the true believers.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,674 posts)who are going to rallies, donating in unprecedented numbers, and whupping Hillary in the polls, what's the problem? Maybe the "true believers" will turn out to be the majority. The "crabby" guy wins because the majority of the people like what he has to say. Even though Bernie's personal demeanor seems gruff, the truth is that his message is positive. Hillary's is negative; she's saying "No, we can't do that" to everything Bernie advocates - single payer health care, funded college, restoring bank regulation - and that's what people are responding to. Hillary is the negative candidate, not Bernie.
wilt the stilt
(4,528 posts)but I think once the republican machine gets through with him he will be toast. No one likes a crab and no one wants to have a crab lecturing everyone for 4 years.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,674 posts)Bernie is way more attractive than those two lunatics. I'm quite confident that a majority would choose a "crab" with a positive message over a raving maniac with a hateful, angry message. If Bernie's personal demeanor were really such a turn-off he wouldn't be surging in the polls and attracting unprecedented donations. And f*ck that "true believer" shit.
wilt the stilt
(4,528 posts)and possibly the most unlikable person I have ever seen. On the other hand the Donald is mildly entertaining. You have to admit that when he put Perry's number on TV and called Bush low energy you did crack a smile. Bernie is like castor oil on steroids.
