Severity and track of a snowstorm next week still hard to predict
POSTED: THURSDAY, JANUARY 28, 2016 11:47 AM | UPDATED: 5:48 PM, THU JAN 28, 2016.
By Jay Withrow / World-Herald staff writer
Forecasters are keeping an eye on the potential for a major snowstorm striking eastern Nebraska and western Iowa early next week.
But its too early to confidently predict whether a severe storm will roar through the region, churning out heavy snow and strong winds, said meteorologist Becky Kern of the National Weather Service office in Valley.
The system that may bring severe weather to the Omaha area still is out in the Pacific Ocean, she said.
Uncertainty is really high, Kern said Thursday, which makes our confidence low.
But I can tell you this: Some locations in the central Plains will get snow and winds Monday night and Tuesday, Kern said.

It is to make sure caucus rules are followed, and to report the results to Bernie. Bernie doesn't trust the Microsoft tabulator, so he had a program designed to track the count.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_caucuses
The Republicans and Democrats each hold their own set of caucuses subject to their own particular rules that change from time to time. Participants in each party's caucuses must be registered with that party. Participants can change their registration at the caucus location. Additionally, 17-year-olds can participate, as long as they will be 18 years old by the date of the general election. Observers are allowed to attend, as long as they do not become actively involved in the debate and voting process. For example, members of the media and campaign staff and volunteers attend many of the precinct caucuses. Youth who will not be eligible to vote by the date of the general election may also attend as observers and may volunteer to attend the county convention as youth delegates.[5]

(167 posts)I drove around and found my caucus site since I'm living in a new area since last time. I'm looking forward to it. I've seen a lot of Bernie signs in the area and was surprised to see two giant O'Malley signs in a couple of places. I don't think I've seen a Hillary yard sign at all this year.

(24,411 posts)It's my understanding that, instead of phoning in the results--each precinct will enter in their results into a laptop. I guess this is a Microsoft program?
Any thoughts?
I just heard Steffen Schmidt talking about how the changes are ridiculous. Phoning in the results was easy and simple. Now, we have to enter data into a program and send it in. His argument was that volunteers run all of this, why have them learn this new procedure when phoning in the results was working just fine.
I'd love to hear your opinion on the changes, and also an other information that you have about the new procedures. Thanks.

(99,584 posts)The microsoft cloud reporting bothered Bernie's crew. That is why every precinct is calling in numbers to Bernie's officves to verify the count on his own system: http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511082483

(24,411 posts)This is what my husband said as well.
I am glad that I'm not the only one who is CONCERNED about potential abuses.
I'll be taking pictures of our hand counts, that is for sure.
All precinct counts had BETTER be public, after the vote.
We're not going to send in our numbers and hope for the best without verification. I assume that there will be failsafes in place.
