Nothing else. Hillary is toast. That's it.
Bernie won't be able to protect her this time.

(12,689 posts)"The State Department will be denying in full seven email chains, found in 22 documents representing 37 pages," said State Department spokesman John Kirby. "The documents are being upgraded at the request of the Intelligence Community because they contain a category of Top Secret information ... These documents were not marked classified at the time they were sent."
Seems like we are back at square one. Bernie doesn't have the authority to indict and even if he did, he needs the damn evidence to do it and this isn't no damn evidence.
ChisolmTrailDem
(9,463 posts)And what are you talking about Bernie indicting her and needing evidence? What's that all about?

(34,825 posts)Team Hillary is probably scrambling to get a sanctioned debate together by tomorrow so their moderator can bring up the emails and give Bernie an opportunity to bail her ass out yet again.

earthside
(6,960 posts)... in plain language and you will be 'alerted.'
But that is my contention, too.
I think she has a lot of the same characteristics as that of that "mid-late 20th Century politician" to whom you refer.
I think that is why she wanted her own email server, like having her own taping system.
Is that "perfectly clear"?
Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)exactly.

(44,984 posts)beat this to death. Bill Clinton or Obama could get away with this, they have charisma and democrats for the most part trust them.
joshcryer
(62,269 posts)Ooh, damn, I forgot, you actively run a site to do that! Meanwhile the young people who want Sanders to defeat Clinton might just shrug it off since they think she'd lose anyway.
Why fight for something if the thing you're against is going to lose anyway?
We have work to do and this is a distraction. I'm already seeing a bump in the polls for Clinton over this dead horse. All that free advertising.
Autumn
(44,984 posts)on a discussion board. Poll bump already??? Sure. Got a link to that poll where she has a bump over the Obama administration releasing the info about those classified e mails today ? Yes I do and it's a damn fine site, no secret rooms, no anti semitism, no racists bullshit being posted, rather nice.
Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)I would say it's not entirely surprising that people are talking about it here.
joshcryer
(62,269 posts)Certainly FOX News is going there. But it doesn't have much staying power.
Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)I'm not celebrating. I fear she's gonna be our nominee anyway, and combine this with the demostratively depressing, uninspired, craptastic campaign she's running, and we're in big trouble.
And even if she makes it to the WH, this isn't going away.
Fuck no I'm not "celebrating".
But maybe the people who have spent the past 6 months having a tumblr temper tantrum over Sanders and his evil "berniebros" ought to consider whether this guy they've been fulminating against all this time may actually be our best shot to hold on to the WH, after all.
joshcryer
(62,269 posts)But do you see him coming from behind with 'bros' sending the inevitable narrative?
Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)he came into this deal at like 3% and now he's pretty friggin' competitive.
Meanwhile Hillary has ran a campaign even worse than I thought she would, which is saying something. It also says something that Hillary's supporters here get all excited about a Dana Millbank op-ed which, while suggesting Sanders shouldn't get the nod, calls Hillary's politics and campaign "dreary", "uninspiring" and "inauthentic".
This is the kind of praise they're PSYCHED to get, apparently. So even her supporters seem to grok that there's something wrong.
And all the bargle about "Sanders supporters are alienating people on the interwebs" is just that- a meme being pushed which has very little relationship to what voters are actually basing their decisions on, namely things like issues.
joshcryer
(62,269 posts)A win or a very very close match. A blow out for Clinton gives her momentum going in to NH, and there's no recovery from that.
This is a key moment for the campaign, and it feels very much like 2004. Only Dean supporters didn't swift boat Kerry.
Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)And Not because they're "catapulting RW memes"- this is a developing, active news story. It's not a jerome corsi swiftboat deal manufactured by Karl Rove.
Especially given that Clinton's supposed strength as a candidate is one of the main pillars of the arguments used to support her. Screw actual positions on actual issues, it's all about "electability"
This weakens her, and it would appear it is not going away. So if she is a weakened candidate, then why are we supposed to support her over Sanders, again?
joshcryer
(62,269 posts)And I'm saying there's nothing there. Like there was nothing there the other hundred times it's come up. I'm, like Sanders, tired of hearing about those damn emails.
That's supporting Sanders.
Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)Are internet bullies because they disagreed with me on twitter"
That shit has been going non stop for months.
I'd love it if we could just talk about the issues.
Like long-overdue removal of marijuana from the CSA, for one, which sanders supports. Hopefully Hillary will "evolve" and support as well, because as others have noted, it might help her sagging numbers with Millennials.

(62,269 posts)But it should give all the faux Sanders supporters something to latch on to as they already are pushing the inevitable narrative.

(2,125 posts)is all over this, saying the WH comments are strange and they're just stonewalling. Their legal 'expert' saying these 22 emails were so damaging to National Security that they're being withheld but this was clearly illegal because they were on the unsecured server.
My guess is the other news outlets are letting this get lost in the Friday news dump, pre-caucus chatter but it isn't going away.
SDJay
(1,089 posts)Beware of the Friday news dump. They could dump something like this on the Saturn News Network at 4 a.m. on Super Bowl Sunday and it would still not slip through.
Whether any of this is legitimate or not, it's a disaster for HRC and perhaps all of us who don't want to see some neanderthal in the White House next year.
She needs to either spill the beans or deal with it in some way that moves this towards completion. The longer it goes on, the worse it'll get.

AND the FBI is still looking through the servers and the 30,000 emails Hillary refused to give to State. Such a liability for the Dems. She screwed us all over.

(22,271 posts)Obama will be in the background running interference for her and the MSM will feign shock but allow unlimited time for her press secretary and other surrogates to explain how all of this is just a giant misunderstanding.
But . . . it comes 2 days before Iowa so they only have 2 days to spin it. This has been some kinda weird campaign season.
