He thinks his blatant bigotry is going to triumph over magic underwear? Not gonna happen.

Yes I believe Mitt Rmoney will be the disaster candidate for the GOP, but magic underwear is akin to demonizing Orthodox Jewish outerwear. It's NOT needed. If you want to 'progress' onto 'ragheads', count me out.
I didn't really see it that way but I do now. I almost want to delete my post but your post is so correct and pertinent, I'm going to leave my post so people will see your post.
I will not ever use that "quip" again. It was wrong.
And just in case anyone thinks I'm being sarcastic, I'm not. I was wrong to use that statement and denem was right to call me on it.
I make the 'magic underwear' joke and never really thought about it. Yeah, I think most religious orthodoxy is weird, but it doesn't effect me, so to each his own.

(27,985 posts)The last blonde joke I made was about a decade ago. My friend pointed out that he didn't like it when I did that because it was stereotyping and a form of bigotry. I never passed on another blonde joke. Once my eyes were opened to the bigotry, the jokes weren't funny any more.

(41,832 posts)not stalking, I promise. I am so proud of your response and the way you put it that I'm giving you my last heart.
I've saved it up for someone who I thought made a really good post.
That was kind.
It was also kind, in a different way, that denem showed me a blind spot I had. It's not blind anymore so now I can make better choices. I try, when shown that I'm wrong, to own up and make amends if it requires. Unfortunately, (or fortunately) I'm no saint, so I could just as easily have gotten defensive, but then I would have missed a big opportunity to learn.
I suspect my recent return to the 12 steps might make it easier for me to not be defensive. But man, it's making it hard to have fun with the comedy candidates this year. Personal inventory and snark make strange bedfellows, you know?

(11,045 posts)I think Democrats know only too well where ridiculing differences leads ...
Thank you.
BTW, Harry Reid's a Mormon. He represents his constituents, and the Democratic Party rather well.
PEACE.

(27,985 posts)are up for snark attacks. And really, with this Republican comedy team, the ground is quite fertile on both of those counts.
