Poll: Clinton widens lead over Sanders nationally

Hillary Clinton widened her lead over rival Bernie Sanders to 17 points in a national poll released one day before ballots are cast on Super Tuesday.

Clinton now has 55 percent support among Democratic voters, according to Monday morning's CNN/ORC International poll, compared to Sanders’s 38 percent.

Clinton’s lead over Sanders was 14 points, 52 to 38 percent, in a similar poll in late January.

The former secretary of State holds a much slimmer 5-point lead over Sanders in a RealClearPolitics average of national polls, 47.2 to 42.2 percent.
