in all the discussion about low Dem turnout...and all the whys and wherefores...

how vigorously have the DNC's GOTV/online registration, etc. program(s) been pursued and promoted....how much organizational effort has been placed state by state...?

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/election/dem-voter-registration-leading-turnout-article-1.2545420

yeah, the Daily News...Shaun King has a good take on the situation and what it might mean in November regardless of candidate...

voter registration, when played as a game, is a double-edged sword...

Political commentator Roland Martin chimed in on how much lower Democratic voter turnout has been:

"They (the Democratic Party) should be driving hard for registration, registration, registration. I don’t understand why they’re not spending a massive amount of money in Texas to register those 2.1 million eligible unregistered Hispanics. We have nearly 1 million folks in Georgia alone who are unregistered African-American and Latino. That’s where they should be because it’s going to be a turnout game for them in Ohio — Florida."

But here's the thing: Hillary must know that low voter turnout actually favors her campaign to get the nomination. She and the political machine are not going to invest the time or money to beat the drums for voter registration because they know full well those are primarily votes she won't receive.

"they know full well those are primarily votes she wouldn't receive".

Hillary has done very well with African American and Latino voters in the primary. So why would she not receive those primary votes?

expecting a huge swing from low turnout in primaries to huge turnout in GE, when (for however reasons...many of which are conjecture) the 'base' appears to not be strongly responding to either candidate, especially compared to Republican turnout...

I, for one, would like as many registered Democrats as we can get...I don't trust any part of the electorate to decide to show up to vote against Trump when they haven't shown up in these primaries...

yeah, I know, GE GE GE...this summer will be a bad time to wish we had more Dems registered is the assertion...

I just don't understand what that has to do with Hillary's campaign - the part I quoted in my post. What possible motivation would Hillary or her supporters have for not signing up minority voters, who by and large have voted for her in droves (and are likely poised to do more of the same today)?

which I won't lay at Hillary's feet (I'm not looking to go into that arena here)...I think the DNC leadership, to use a term out of position not respect, is and has been shortsighted as to what it might take, beyond the primaries, to get voters in position to turn out in the GE...

there are those who think low turnout is due to 'lack of competition', 'foregone candidate', 'youth voters don't turn out', etc....

and those may all be effects...but registering voters is the impetus to get them out in November...

I think we absolutely should do more to register new voters, particularly voters who are often disenfranchised. It was the political commentator in the piece you linked, and the bit you highlighted, that was laying this problem at Hillary's feet, hence my confusion.
