(3,089 posts)Eye of the beholder I guess. Dismissive she was not. The young lady had a point to make, she made it, and was dismissive of Hillary trying to answer her. Get real.
Bubzer
(4,211 posts)Hillary AND her attack dog started in on her as soon as it was clear she wasn't going to toe the Hillary line. The young lady wasn't being dismissive... she was trying to get away from the hostility. You could see it clear as day in her body language.
It's also worth noting that hillary was only one who raised her voice.
Darb
(2,807 posts)If Hillary had done worse it would have been fine too. But she didn't. After whatever that rude girl said Hillary said fine, do what you want and good luck. Good for Hillary. she doesn't have to take unlimited shit from people. She ended it when the girl said something that I couldn't really hear. did you hear it?
Bubzer
(4,211 posts)I certainly do. Hillary's body language was aggressive, the young lady's was not. Hillary had tons of present attendants, the young lady did not. This is a clear-cut case of Hillary being a bully to someone who doesn't buy off on her bullshit.
Darb
(2,807 posts)"Go run for something" meant you try to go out and run for office and have to put up with shit from every damn person with a gripe, which is everybody. You try it. It sucks. IMHO, that is what she was saying and I agree.
The girl was not respectful, as the situation calls for, she was the opposite. I trust that whatever that last comment was before the "fine", I trust that it was bullshit and disrespectful.
Bubzer
(4,211 posts)However, body language, and force of numbers is quantifiable versus your opinion of what she might have said. So, hate to say it, but your opinion just doesn't rate against the facts. You don't have to like it, but it is what it is. If you can find a recording of what she said, then I may agree with you... till then... I'll stick with the facts.
Darb
(2,807 posts)Geez.
What a crock of shit. The girl was disrespectful and Hillary told her to dangle. Good for Hillary.
Bubzer
(4,211 posts)But please, keep pushing... keep showing everyone what PoC can really expect from Hillary and her supporters. Thanks in advance!
Darb
(2,807 posts)you let the cat out of the bag. You want to flog this as a racial thing, instead of what it really is, a rude girl thing.
Good effort, but........... I see you.
I know you Bernies really need to turn the AA vote back toward Bernie, but this ain't gonna do it. Pretty lame I'd say.
Bubzer
(4,211 posts)And yours.
Bubzer
(4,211 posts)Hillary was surrounded by her campaign and surrogates. When she heard something she didn't like, she raised her voice at the young woman and her campaign flunky started flapping his gums at her too. The young lady was very obviously uncomfortable, and clearly wanted to leave. Hillary, however, insisted on finishing her talk down session to the young lady... then laughed afterwards. Pure bullying bullshit.

(22 posts)But now she is a product of her very exclusive life style (incredibly insulated life between Secret Service Protection, only interacting on a social level with the incredibly wealthy and powerful, probably not being told no very often and having incredible wealth and privilege every day including: drivers, doormen, cooks, trainers, maids, political consultants {yuck, to her choice of them}). I think that combination of environmental factors might make most of us aloof, unconcerned about the little guy and incredibly focused on what we wanted, I would hope not, but maybe it would. At any rate, I don't see any cure for it, other then a lack of funds, and I don't see that happening ever.

(11,546 posts)she realizes that what she just said may be construed as unkind, she laughs. It doesn't make her look more kind or as if she didn't mean to be rude. It does give me the impression that she knows that what she just said is unkind and she is trying to laugh it off. Maybe it's a nervous laugh but it seems very ingenuine to me.

(31,921 posts)the thing with Hillary is that she is really smart. I used to think she'd be amazing on the Supreme Court (but then again would you want her deciding a case like Citizen's United??). But she just doesn't have the people skills. Yes, she's less hostile than the Donald - but that's about it. That's what hurt her in 2008 and it doesn't look like she's gotten much better.
Are people on this board harping about Sander supporters being racist the same group that supported Hillary in 2008 when she and her campaign attacked Obama on being Muslim or anti-america? A nice little smear that GOP picked up on and ran with for last 7 years. OR was it other way around they started it and she just used it to try and win power in 2008?

Clinton had a similar young woman removed, while saying "back to the issues that are important".
And she just did it again: dismissing a young woman. Really shoring up that millennial vote there, Hillary! You go girl!

(6,335 posts)It is perfectly obvious that as soon as she realized that young woman was disagreeing with her, she became dismissive indeed - dismissive, condescending, and very obviously annoyed.
I can't think of another word for her behavior than appalling - as low as my opinion of her is, it shocked even me.

Raine1967
(11,589 posts)ellennelle
(614 posts)hillary got fed up and lost her cool.
now, agreeing on that fact, let's examine this exchange, and it has to be pretty much only the video, cuz i could not hear the girl at all either.
but here's the thing: a young BLACK woman, wearing a backpack, gets up the courage to ask hillary a question.
hillary's response, as far as i can tell, is right away dismissive, something along the lines of 'i got this, don't worry about it.'
the girl, again as far as i can tell, asks her for specifics.
and this ticks hillary off. as you note, hillary got 'fed up and lost her cool.'
did you not time that exchange? it was mere seconds!
first, do we want someone with the nuclear codes to get 'fed up and lose control' in mere seconds? at all?
second, do you share hillary's inability to recognize that this young BLACK woman has spent her entire life watching her family and friends and neighbors be ignored by the ruling elite, dismissed by officials, bullied by everyone white, and killed by the police?
so i have to ask you, jane, as you complain about this young woman's cheek, do you utterly lack compassion? do you really expect her to lick hillary's boots here? why do you fail to demand of your candidate the kind of compassion this brave and clearly damaged young woman deserves?
now, as for not being able to hear the words exchanged, there are no words the young girl might have said that would change my analysis at all. unless she explicitly told hillary to go fk herself.
all i heard from hillary was that she had the answers to this girl's problems, and whatever the girl responded with prompted hillary to be even more dismissive, to the point of having her removed.
and you defend this?
