as long as it helps her win primaries. I think that's probably true, but I can only speculate.

But now facing the Left and needing our votes, she turns and runs away.

(82,383 posts)I think the TPP is just a hook people hang onto as part of the alleged big conspiracy against us all by the corporations. No, Obama and anyone else has no motive to purposely make deals that would hurt large numbers of voters economically. That's the value of a democracy.

(11,101 posts)I'm not arguing the merits here, only her coming out against it during the campaign. Do her supporters believe she is really against it or do they assume she taking a position to help her with primary voters that will revert to her prior support of it once she is past the primaries. I assume they know it's not really her position and don't care, because they realize coming out against it helps her get elected.

(82,383 posts)That doesn't strike me as dishonesty. It's a big thing that probably had a lot of changes to it. I don't think a significant number of voters understand it that well or that their opposition is all that honest either. No reason for her to pretend to be against it and she obviously isn't against trade agreements in general. Some people make these hugely oversimplified assumptions that they are all evil things meant to damage most of the voters, as if anyone could win an election like that.

(9,086 posts)By the way Clinton didn't lie about TPP, did she?
All she said was she is against the TPP "today", and that was months ago.

(11,101 posts)You support the TPP. Your candidate is on record saying she does not. My question is to you believe that she's being truthful about opposing it.
