(17,320 posts)entitled something to the effect "Sanders isn't comfortable in the company of Black People"
Then a couple of days later, there was the counter piece "Clinton feels good in the company of Black People".
I felt that both posts were beyond ridiculous. My posts were my attempt to counter the earlier posts.
Guess mine didn't work out the way I had hoped.
Cheese Sandwich
(9,086 posts)I'm a fan of Bernie Sanders and also of anybody who puts their body on the line for a cause like that.
Thanks for posting it.

(17,320 posts)What I look for more than anything else is trustworthiness and integrity. Bernie excels in both.
Can't say that about many politicians.

(9,086 posts)God only knows Hillary has got some photos out there of her brushing off dandruff and whatnot that are supposedly iconic.

(53,027 posts)It was dangerous, being outsiders in these rural areas, talking about segregation academies, said Cynthia G. Brown, a longtime education advocate who did work similar to Mrs. Clintons.
She added, We thought we were part of the civil rights struggle, definitely.

(53,027 posts)and I think it's pretty obvious by now that particular approach has not succeeded in persuading African Americans to vote for Bernie. Voters care what candidates are going to do now, here in the present, not what they did a half century ago.

(9,086 posts)Actually I found it quite inspiring.
It helps confirm that Bernie is a righteous dude.
Nothing wrong with that.

(9,086 posts)Don't you think people are able to simply look away from things they aren't interested in?
The post is for anybody who is interested in history and Sanders' history?
If anybody doesn't care they can just look away. There's not a big banner at the top saying "Listen Up Black People".

Uncle Joe
(58,342 posts)But what's the point?
BainsBane
(53,027 posts)There have been dozens and dozens of articles and posts by AAs on the subject. But you're right. There is no point trying to get any of you to give a shit about that or anything else. It's your world. The rest of us only exist to vote as we are told.

(9,086 posts)Hit trash thread. We're allowed to share photos of Bernie Sanders.
Do you think I enjoy looking at that GIF of Hillary brushing dandruff off her shoulder 100 times a day?
No. But it's the internet so I deal with it.
Uncle Joe
(58,342 posts)why you would rather white wash History and let Bernie's Civil Rights activism be forgotten.
These photos and Bernie's later actions throughout his distinguished career are consistent with his character of caring for all the people regardless of race and I believe this discomforts you.
I'm not telling you anything, that you don't already know.
BainsBane
(53,027 posts)I guess the point is to just make yourselves feel better.
It's better than the threads about how AAs just aren't informed enough to vote people as here insist they should, or the ones trying to come up with ways to disenfranchise the entire South. The sort of thing that Skinner commented on here:

(9,086 posts)If you don't like that you could always find another site to hang out on I guess.
Or hit trash thread.
Some people post stupid things because this is the internet.
You're trying to change the subject. Yes there are some idiots on the site who are condescending to black people. I don't approve of that.
That doesn't mean every time somebody posts a photo or comment about Bernie Sanders civil rights record that it is directed at any particular person or group.
We are allowed a space to discuss or celebrate Bernie's record. If you don't like it, look away. Or continue to make your comments if you want.

ARE YOU F*CKING KIDDING ME???? What's next? Demonizing Jane Goodall? MLK? Gandhi?? People backing one of the most corrupt politicians running dare to suggest that Bernie isn't "pure" enough??

(8,352 posts)so that forced diversity corrects this egregious error.
While we are at it, let's fix these other states some of which are even less diverse than Vermont.

And you know what, I don't see Illinois or Arkansas on this list. Why is that not an issue for Clinton?

(8,352 posts)the fuck does that have to do with the price of tea in China?
He was the only fucking white rep to support Jesse Jackson in 1988 from 'lily white' Vermont so obviously not a damned thing.
Uncle Joe
(58,342 posts)endorsed him for President.
Jackson captured 6.9 million votes and won 11 contests: seven primaries (Alabama, the District of Columbia, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Puerto Rico and Virginia) and four caucuses (Delaware, Michigan, South Carolina and Vermont).[6] Jackson also scored March victories in Alaska's caucuses and Texas's local conventions, despite losing the Texas primary.[7][8] Some news accounts credit him with 13 wins.[9] Briefly, after he won 55% of the vote in the Michigan Democratic caucus, he was considered the frontrunner for the nomination, as he surpassed all the other candidates in total number of pledged delegates.

(31,935 posts)Bernie has clearly spent his lifetime fighting for the 99%. ALL of us. Vermont is a beautiful State beloved by East coast nature lovers. Nature; you know, that thing that Hillary wants to frack into oblivion?
You really don't get it at all.

(27,670 posts)arguably the most liberal state in the US, and the people there are generally very nice, kind, friendly people. The air and water are clean, the crime rate is low, and they make maple syrup.
So, are you saying that Bernie should not live in a beautiful state because there are too many white people there for your taste?
