Related: About this forumNew meme: Bernie is running out of money
That seems to be one of today's talking points, that he has spent most of his February donations. Not sure who they are trying to convince. Much of this kind of talk by opponents will just increase donations to Bernie.

(2,281 posts)I was worried all the reports that Bernie was rolling in cash would hurt his future donations.

(36,063 posts)Campaign funds flow in and out. The pertinent issue isn't spending, it seems Sanders is careful about paying his bills. The issue to look at would be any increased difficulty in getting them to continue to flow in.
The recent multi-million dollar day suggests there hasn't been difficulty in raising donations.

Couldn't be a starker contrast with One Percenter Hillary.
Hillary "Dead Broke" Clinton spends $1200 for cut/dye; closes down posh salon in the process.
Hillary Clinton made part of Bergdorf Goodman, a ritzy department store, shut down on Friday to get a $600 haircut at the posh John Barrett Salon.
Clinton and her huge entourage were seen being ushered through a side entrance of the Fifth Avenue store in Manhattan.
Staff closed off one side of Bergdorfs so Hillary could come in privately to get her hair done, a source said. An elevator bank was shut down so she could ride up alone, and then she was styled in a private area of the salon. Other customers didnt get a glimpse. Hillary was later seen with a new feathered hairdo.
Clinton regularly sees salon owner John Barrett, who typically charges $600 for a cut and blow-dry and an additional $600 for hair color.

(1,022 posts)My daughter is a college sophomore. Last spring, a scant 6 days after Bernie announced his candidacy, she came home for summer break. She sat me down and said "Mom, I know you're probably voting for Hillary" (unspoken, "because you're a woman, and...old", haha!)," but I really think Bernie Sanders is much better". She then proceeded to tick off Bernie's proposals - free college, health care, prison reform, inequality, etc., etc. She was so earnest! I almost felt bad telling her that Mom & Dad were already Feeling the Bern. She then told me that her entire dorm, her friends from high school (who are in colleges all over the country), and her old Girl Scout troop are all supporting Bernie. It was then that I knew that the kids were going to run with this.
Makes this old Boomer's heart proud.

(15,480 posts)Back in her first unsuccessful presidential campaign, 2008,
Clinton's debt reached its peak in June 2008 shortly after the former New York senator suspended her campaign. At that point, her presidential committee owed $12 million to almost 500 creditors and $13.2 million to the candidate herself, who dipped into her personal funds to help finance her campaign.
Campaign finance laws forced Clinton to forgive the amount she loaned her committee because she was not able to repay the funds by a required deadline.
The Clintons finally paid off the last of those debts in 2012. How many of her over 500 unpaid vendors survived until then?

(10,279 posts)donations. The only request I have of him in money management: Keep reserves lean -- If the campaign falls, I don't want any of our donations transferring to the DNC.

(14,498 posts)>>If the campaign falls, I don't want any of our donations transferring to the DNC.>>>
Is that a real possibility? ( i.e. the "transferring" of $$ to DNC)
NCjack
(10,279 posts)after all bills are settled. It is permitted to donate the money to qualified charities and other political campaigns. Bernie is on record that if his campaign fails, he will support Hillary. To me, that means transferring his leftover cash either to the HRC campaign or a simpler, cleaner transfer to the DNC.
