The Kentucky Caucus was paid for by Rand Paul so that he could run in the Presidential race and for his Senate seat. This is the 1st time the Republicans have held a Caucus in Kentucky. We normally have both Republicans and Democrats voting in May. From what I have seen of the local coverage it was very chaotic and there weren't enough polling places throughout the state. A lot of voters had to travel long distances to even vote.

Or so any date after 3/15 keeps getting drilled in to our heads. Which means make sure you get your neighbors, family members, and anyone else to the polls that day Set up carpools, phonebook, whatever.

This is the first year (as far as I'm aware) that democrats and republicans voted on different days. This year is different because the republicans decided to hold a caucus as a way to make it legal for Rand Paul to run for both senate and president. State law says that a candidate can't appear twice on the same ballot so this is their way around it. Just another waste of taxpayer money in my opinion.
