Let's all be kind to each other while watching together! Knives down, popcorn and beers out, people.
May the best party win!
From Flint Michigan.
"Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders go head-to-head Sunday in a CNN Democratic debate certain to focus on racial barriers and economic fairness but that will above all be defined by the toxic water crisis afflicting its host city, Flint, Michigan.
The former secretary of state and the Vermont senator, who are locked in a monthslong duel for the Democratic nomination, will use the debate starting at 8 p.m. ET to court minority and working-class voters ahead of Michigan's primary on Tuesday."
8-10 PM- It is on CNN and CNN International, as well as:

Please proceed, Hillary.

(1,384 posts)Audience seemed very receptive to her argument. She didn't say anything about going after hunter's guns, she's simply for stricter control which most Democrats are for.

(28,876 posts)Michigan is. And guns and hunting are an integral part of our social fabric. Not for me personally, but for virtually all of my friends, family, neighbors. And what they just heard was a grab on guns.

(4,387 posts)...I know people will feel strongly about getting rid of all guns and everything like that, but the fact is, we can't with the way our constitution is. I just wish there was a way to have a conversation with people being honest about what laws like the one Bernie voted for actually do. It's not blanket immunity at all. His position is also the only sensible one unless you want people to sue car manufacturers and dealerships if someone drives a car through a crowd of people.

(31,170 posts)If my cancer ever returns I probably will do it anyway though. I am a big believer in the oil.
My problems are from surgical complications in one part, and then the degenerative cartilage damage on the other.

It is only painful if I write for an extended period, or some other such thing. Mostly it is fine or just stiffens up a bit.

(27,310 posts)And yes, income increased for many citizens but that increase was largely due to short term low pay jobs for those who were previously on assistance.
It is like this, a woman receiving assistance is churned off and is required to find a job. She get hired as a temp for ToyRUs (and gets a tax break from the govt. for doing so) and is "laid off" just at the point where she is vested to be hired permanently and receive benefits.
Another woman takes her place. Rinse and repeat.
This happened massively across the U.S. It was a shell game to prop up "welfare reform". When the actual living lives of actual human beings were no longer held political advantage, the tax breaks disappeared and these poor women were no longer hired and, at some point, no longer eligible for assistance. Their children went starving and continue to starve to this day.
For all of us who worked with poor people, this was 100% predicted. That is why 3 people resigned over welfare reform and why Edelson had a political following out with the Clintons.

(32,679 posts)I'm a little behind (viewing from DVR).
In response to the question about what racial biases he may have, Sanders said: "When you're white, you don't know what it's like to be living in the ghetto. You don't know what it's like to be poor..."
Someone (maybe killer Mike?) should inform him that all black people don't live in ghettos. The poverty rate for black Americans is around 25%, which is unacceptably high, but it also means 75% are not poor (by legal definition).
Second, even though poor white communities aren't usually referred to as ghettos, they exist. The poverty rate for non-Hispanic whites is around 10%.

(11,833 posts)Sanders & Clinton debated vigorously and fairly. They identified the challenges ahead and spoke specifically about how to address them. I believe they would both be an excellent nominee and do a great job.
