A look at today's Democratic primary

(WJBK) - Michigan is the first industrial state to vote in the 2016 primaries and the biggest prize among one other state casting ballots Tuesday in the Democratic race. Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will also face off in Mississippi.

Squeezed between high-profile Super Tuesday and high-stakes primaries next week in Florida and Ohio, Tuesday's contests are unlikely to dramatically reshape the Democratic party's primary. But with 179 Democratic delegates at stake here in Michigan, the races offer an opportunity for front-runners to pad leads and rivals to catch up.

Clinton appears to be on a steady path to the Democratic nomination. She's steadily grown her lead over Sanders, who has struggled to broaden his appeal beyond a loyal following of younger voters and liberals.

A new exclusive FOX 2 Mitchell Poll shows that Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders needs to pull off a miracle to win in Tuesday's Primary. The numbers show Clinton topping Sanders by nearly than a two-to-one margin 61 to 35 percent with less than 5 percent still undecided.

Not only does he need "miracle wins", he needs MULTIPLE wins (BIG wins at that) if he hopes to capture the Democratic nomination.

Math and time are against Bernie. Hillary WILL BE our nominee!

Go, Hillary! We love you!

In the Democratic race, Clinton leads Sanders 51.9 percent to 46.9 percent, which is well within the margin of error. On the GOP side, Trump leads with 36.1 percent, followed by Ted Cruz at 19.5 percent, Marco Rubio at 18.1 percent and John Kasich at 8.9 percent.
