Why in the world would she not release them if there is nothing to hide?

(4,387 posts)...unless it would make her look bad. At this point, though, the damage is done. If she had just released them the day after it came up, and there was nothing damning in them, she would have been in good shape. Now it just looks shady no matter what she does. She did it to herself, though.

(28,791 posts)But it has done so much damage to her campaign (not releasing them) that she would have done it by now to stop the bleeding IF there was really nothing there.

(1,446 posts)Taking advantage of being highly sought after for speaking engagements (and giving most of the money to charity) is an advantage that comes with years of hard work. Before this campaign, Bernie had practically no name recognition outside of political nerds, and those in Vermont. If he was more well know, he certainly might have given paid speeches. (Granted, probably not to Wall Street banks, but certainly to other large businesses.) Obama gave many of them, as has every other celebrated politician.
If there was truly anything in those speeches, people would have released cell phone video (or at least audio) by now. My brother who works for a Wall Street firm has been to corporate sponsored speeches by many politicians, including Hillary right after she finished being at State, and he said many people were using their phones to record them.

Every day that goes by, I assume that the content is a little worse than I did the day before.
