We had a few who were defending the Reagans in their reaction to the AIDS epidemic just in multiple threads to prop up Hillary's vile, revisionist history. Now that she admits she "misspoke", what will they do now? Pivot and attack Sanders again?

They are spitting on every person, as well as their families who had to go through this in the 80s.

All for propping up their candidate.

She didn't "misspoke". Even that's a lie.

Anyone alive at that time who paid ANY attention to the issue knew precisely how cruel and cynical the Reagans were on HIV/AIDS. So, either Hillary wasn't paying attention (which is my bet since it didn't effect her) or she hasn't got a good enough memory to be president of the United States.

Not even close. This was horrifically insulting and it requires active correction and amends to be made. She showed how little she really cares about LGBT issues, how little attention she paid back then. Despicable.

1987

41,027 persons are dead and
71,176 persons diagnosed with AIDS in the US.

After years of negligent silence, President Ronald Reagan finally uses the word "AIDS" in public. He sided with his Education Secretary William Bennett and other conservatives who said the Government should not provide sex education information. (They are still saying it!)

On April 2, 1987, Reagan said: "How that information is used must be up to schools and parents, not government. But let's be honest with ourselves, AIDS information can not be what some call 'value neutral.' After all, when it comes to preventing AIDS, don't medicine and morality teach the same lessons."

It was genocide.

Erased. Gone.

Clinton's insulting adulation of the Reagan's history when dealing with HIV/AIDS will not soon be forgotten by advocates and activists. This was a major slip-up today.

Think about that for a second.

One of them is calling Larry Kramer a liar and a couple more Hillary supporters who have said for years are LGBT are saying her words are "no big deal" and "much to do about nothing" and calling it drama.

Drama.

It's unbelievable.

Nancy's death of course brings all of that up already. For Hillary to say this is heartbreaking. It just means she never paid a bit of attention, before or sense. It's like applauding George Wallace for starting a Civil Rights conversation.

Someone needs to set her down and have a long talk with her about her mouth! I agree with WillyT's OP the other night...she is her own worst enemy. I can only imagine her campaign got bombarded and now she is walking it back, but does this ever make her look bad. Did she speak without thinking it through? Did she not know they did nothing for AIDS? How smart is this woman, actually?

Most of her "resume" is predicated on being married to Bill. Would she have been elected Senator of New York as Hillary Smith? or made Secretary of State? I highly doubt it.

What is the difference between misspeaking and lying?

What is the difference between misspeaking and just being wrong?

What is the difference between misspeaking and remembering something incorrectly?

She has not explained what exactly happened with her original statement.

When I think if misspeaking, I think of someone getting tongue tied, and the words coming out wrong.

I don't think that is what she is claiming happened, here.

So, she has tried to clarify her previous terrible statement, but just like always, she just cant give the straight truth......she always has to reword things so that she is not too tied to any specific statement.

Did you lie? No, I misspoke. Were you wrong? No, I misspoke. Is your memory bad? No, I just mispoke.

@HillaryClinton You did not misspeak. But I do realize it's politically incorrect to be honest about the Reagans.
