(11,546 posts)they held a protest at their school. It was students at the university that Trump was speaking at. They protested, not rioted.

(9,314 posts)They totally described it as Trump-supporters incited. No mention of Sanders supporters. If there was anything there, CBS would have found it and reported it.
Something tells me this will be on those things described a myriad of ways, so I personally will be sticking with the CBS version.

(11,366 posts)Um... no. The mainstream media is no longer where one goes to in order to find news and information. As we've seen for the past several years, the M$M is in the tank for the corporations and will not report anything that might make those who are against them (like Bernie, for example) look good.
But to answer the OP - no one rioted. Bernie supporters, BLM and Occupy activists, along with students (who are probably a member of one or a combination of some or all of those groups) got together and held a protest at a tRump rally. It's their First Amendment right to do so.

(9,314 posts)and denigrating Bernie supporters does just that.

(2,472 posts)representatives from the police department who said they had everything under control outside and that Trump could have attended if he had chosen to. There was no riot.
Oh, and channel 9 isn't CBS, it's WGN. CBS is channel 2.
Samantha
(9,314 posts)It reports national news (which I believe comes from the network) and has another show that follows for local news, which is where the WUSA local kicks in. I don't know where you live and what cable service you have (if any) but I am in MD.

(2,472 posts)Chicago and our tv stations come from there. In Chicago channel 9 is WGN, a local channel, that actually has more news every day than the other channels do.
Samantha
(9,314 posts)I do get most of my news from the internet, but I try to watch the 11:00 news every night on Channel 9. I too find stories that do not appear any place else.
Sometimes during the day, they have an hour long broadcast -- the network news comes on for half an hour and then the local news for the next half. I don't watch any of the other networks now.
Take care,

(23,487 posts)3 people did go to the hospital including a police officer. No serious injuries. But, I guess with 10,000 people there 3 people injured isn't much unless you are one of the 3 people.
At any rate I don't think it makes Chicago look good. I don't think it makes Bernie supporters look good. I really wish it was a more peaceful protest.
That said it seemed that most of the supporters were not violent and most were people of color.

(11,366 posts)The aggressors were Trump fans.
Bernie fans stood up and chanted his name. Pffft. Some riot.
Samantha
(9,314 posts)He is a national embarrassment.

(11,785 posts)There was a bunch of yelling, but I didn't see any violence. I'd call it a disruption, not a riot.

(9,314 posts)but I cannot remember the exact terminology they used. Sorry. It's late and I am going brain dead.

(2,197 posts)then I am very disappointed, as this was weak sauce (try "no sauce", actually) as far as Chicago riots go.
Pay no attention to national media sources, as those people are stupid. Local news is much better for stuff like this.

(2,472 posts)you watch the news on WGN. Although I watched that and the NBC news tonight and Carol Marin seemed pretty happy to be at the Bernie rally and said that there's a big difference between Bernie's rally and what's been going on at Trump's rallies lately.
