Hillary’s emails reveal lucrative ties to for-profit colleges

"Student loan debt continues to be one of the largest economic issues plaguing the U.S., with the total amount topping $1.3 trillion. Hillary Clinton’s higher education policy touts debt-free degrees for underprivileged students. But is she being genuine in her efforts to address the issue?

While Hillary loves to rail against shady for-profit colleges on the campaign trail, she does have some financial ties to them that are likely to shape whether or not she holds them accountable for ripping students off.

It was recently revealed through Hillary’s emails that during her first year as Secretary of State she insisted that Laureate Education be included in the guest list for an education policy dinner hosted at the U.S. Department of State.

“It’s a for-profit model that should be represented,” she wrote in the August 2009 email, and as a result, a senior vice president at Laureate was added to the guest list. Several months later, former President Bill Clinton became an honorary chancellor of Laureate International Universities, which turned out to be incredibly lucrative. He was paid a cool $16.5 million between 2010 and 2014 for his role with the for-profit college"

$16.5 million over 4 years? Yeah there's nothing to see here lol!

It's always about the dollaz with with the Clinton's.

But those, sweet, sweet student debts are always a good investment; garunteed money, indentured serfs.

And I say "the Clintons" because they are a team - The Arkansas Travelers.

How many other "industries" are doing everything they can to steamroll Hillary into the White House?

How many "special interests" are slipping that sweet PAC money into the Clinton coffers?

A lot of these online schools hook 'em promising bright futures and lucrative careers. Federal backed loans enable the money, students wind up with useless degrees which employers scoff at and a mountain of debt.

I also note there are a number of name changes taking place for some of these "schools".

It was a Wall Street owned and backed company, taken private in a leveraged buyout by Kolhberg, Kravitz and Roberts (KKR).

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2014-01-06/clinton-pitches-kkr-backed-college-chain-amid-controversy

<“They have turned education into a commodity that focuses more on profit than knowledge,” says Robson Leite, the Rio state legislator who led the probe. Laureate counters that several of its schools in Brazil have improved in government rankings since 2009.

Laureate has stirred controversy throughout Latin America, where it derives two-thirds of its revenue. In October, Chile’s National Accreditation Commission voted to strip accreditation from one of the company’s schools, Santiago-based Universidad de Las Americas, or UDLA.

In its decision, the commission wrote that, since 2010, UDLA’s academic standards have suffered as it has added almost 10,000 students while reducing the number of full- and half-time teachers to 399 from 408. Graduation rates were as low as 15 percent in some majors.

“The unsatisfactory results revealed in this evaluation process show a serious problem in academic operations,” the group wrote.>

Bill Clinton's relationship with Laureate terminated 2 weeks after Hillary Clinton was critical of the for profit college industry around the time she announced her candidacy for President in 2015.

For example, we just did that with India, the most populous country in the world, causing chaos as students protested the shift which may end up ending guarantees of education for the best students. many don't have any other way of going to college.

The 850 member European Education Association basically says the deals threaten the existence of public education. We're doing the same thing with health care and have been doing it for more than 20 years, since the early 90s.

Its perfectly understandable from a profit standpoint.

Also, without public education, lots less new science to go along with less healthcare.

Ignorance is strength, as they say, right?
