2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe Raw Primary Numbers Show Hillary the Most Popular Candidate for President
I thought I'd look at the numbers of actual voters to see just how popular Donald Trump really is.
Actually, it's Hillary by a wide margin.
Total Votes for Hillary Clinton: 4,993,944
Total Votes for Donald Trump: 4,333,901
Total Votes for Ted Cruz: 3,428,425
Total Votes for Bernie Sanders: 3,280,260
When we exclude states that have only voted for one party or caucus states that count votes differently for each party, the totals are:
Total Votes for Hillary Clinton: 4,936,431
Total Votes for Donald Trump: 4,095,949
Total Votes for Ted Cruz: 3,314,554
Total Votes for Bernie Sanders: 3,199,589

(8,652 posts)that all I hear is how popular Trump is, and the truth is, more people have voted for Hillary than any other candidate.
I am not drawing a conclusion. I am not saying it's over. I'm not saying there doesn't need to be an election.
What I am displaying here is a fact. Just a fact. And you know what? Facts are stubborn things.

(11,862 posts)The repubs had more votes than the Democrats in ALL southern states who voted for whom in the last national presidential election?
This is not who will vote for whom...it is how many people have voted so far in the primaries which has NO veracity as to how the national election will go.

(8,652 posts)Michigan (I know, Bernie won by more), Massachusetts and Virginia.
You can split hairs all you want, but Hillary has more votes than all the guys that the press is swooning over.
I like to deal in facts. I'm comfortable with facts.
I'm an old Red Sox fan, so I know it's not over until it's over. But the score in the fourth inning is still news and you only can count the runs that have crossed the plate so far.

The average American will not want the chaos that they see on their TV's for the next 4 years.
As you noticed in my title, I put you on the top of the ticket.
I don't mind the second spot. After all, who needs all the headaches.
The VP has to be the cushiest no-show job in America, as long as the President stays healthy.
Reminds me of the back-up quarterback in the NFL.
