it was going to be the final statement from the government. Because nobody came after Truman when he used to say it. Then Obama says vigourously "I AM RESPONSIBLE" to top her. And he seems responsible and a great leader and a team player and fair and a big dog all at once. Beautiful.

I don't think any of them politicized it. I think they all took it to heart. They knew the people who died. This was personal. I think they all took it to heart and blamed themselves.

And I think that is what happened in the first debate. I've written repeatedly that President Obama was weary and exhausted in that debate, and seemed like he hadn't been sleeping. And I suspected back then it was over what happened at Benghazi. His response tonight confirms that suspicion, in my mind.

I think he was questioning and doubting himself and losing sleep over it. And I expect Hillary was too, questioning herself. And all of them stepping up and taking responsibility.

rocket fire from Syria killed 5 civilians in NATO country Turkey. And Turkey was saying things like, "An attack on one is an attack on all." So I am guessing he might have had something other than debate prep on his mind that day.

what was a tradgedy and they had to do something. Of course Obama was always going to take responsibility for it. Hillary just helped couch that and made it all the clearer that Obama is the adult on the stage where foreign policy is concerned.

she was sincere. Just as President Obama was sincere when he claimed responsibility tonight.

That is how people of integrity behave in the midst of such as situation. Even if there was nothing they could have done differently, they still second-guess themselves, review over and over to see if they made a mistake somewhere, and accept responsibility for what happened even in the absence of any fault on their part.

That it provide political cover was due to the fact that the Rethugs were politicizing it. I consider political cover as a side effect, not a driver of their statements or behavior. They both claimed responsibility because they are people of great integrity.

That's partly why Mittens failed so badly tonight when he brought up Benghazi. It never occurred to him or his advisers how President Obama would respond. He cannot conceive of integrity, let alone recognize it in others, because he has none.

a speech from the rose garden on Benghazi saying it was a terror. Not understanding nuance romney thought he had caught obama in a lie and wanted to jump on it. He was filled with glee. He got all excited. This a man who lies all day long every day and thinking he caught Obama was a huge deal for him. Shows he doesn't understand the concept of fairness.

i said it right when it happened during the debate.

Plouffe and Axelrod got together with Hillary and put this plan together.

P&A: "Hillary..you go on TV taking blame for Bengazi...You'll look strong if you do it but then we're gonna have O swoop in on debate night and defend you and take ultimate responsibility which will then take away a major talking point for the GOP and win us points with women voters especially"

Hillary: "I'm a team player so count me in"

GENIUS.
