MSNBC LIVE 3/13/16
MSNBC's Joy Reid and The Washington Post's Janell Ross dissect the phenomenon known as the "Bernie Bros" - typically young white males who've been accused of online trolling, misogyny and outright bigotry. Duration: 5:04
Bernie Bros you say? Never heard of it. Thank goodness for MSNBC keeping us informed of this controversy entering the race.

(14,733 posts)Oh right, a giant Hillary supporter. No big surprise she wants to drag that 'story' onto TV and spend time talking it up.

(80,708 posts)If they were a baseball team, they had uniforms, you know, the "Baltimore Berniebros", then yes, they could be argued to be "real" like a cheesesteak or Mount Rushmore is real.
As it is, they are a sociological generalization created by navel gazers drunk on their own postgrad word salad, and catapulted endlessly by people interested in talking about ridiculous shit instead of actual pertinent political issues that directly affect the lives of the citizens of this country; people who would love to make this primary season about "berniebros" just like they wanted to make 2008 about "obama boys".

(3,160 posts)they are the product of David Bock's slime merchants. They are online personas that are owned and controlled by the Clinton camp. They launch incendiary attacks on the targets that Brock paints. Oldest trick in the book. Like everything else she does, it will backfire.

(3,017 posts)Everybody knows David Brock and his team have been digging through every vote Bernie has ever made in 25 years in Congress, in everything he did as mayor of Burlington, ever video and transcript out there, past associations, everything there is to look at. And the best they can do is this BernieBros nonsense that never got any traction the first time?

(3,017 posts)I thought that one died about 3 weeks ago after a 2 or 3 day attempt to make it an issue by the Hillary campaign, MSNBC, the Washington Post and the Daily Beast.
Clearly David Brock's opposition research has struck out on Bernie if recycling this crap is the best they have.

(16,371 posts)It's got a nice symmetry to it, dontcha think? Watch for HRC to express her dismay that Bernie Bros instigated violence ... which real Democrats would never do.

(7,231 posts)and her deadpanning of a desperately needed conversation as a result of which the "gay cancer" decimated the gay community; all of which Mrs Clinton "mistook" for - I kid you not - "silent activism".
And then when all Hell broke loose, she tweeted two flimsy lines about "misspeaking".
And then the howl of indignation grew even bigger, so the "elaborated" her apology (we use the word loosely here), and this time said that "the Reagans do not deserve the distinction of having started the national conversation on AIDS."
Which is as tone-deaf and insincere as it gets. And the HRC (the gay group that stupidly endorsed her even though they had given her the LOWEST rating of all Democratic Candidates in the race) has unlisted its number, because apparently their base is not happy about that endorsement after all.

Did any supposedly hard-working journalist at MSNBC pick up on that controversy, you bunch of bought and paid-for campaign staffers?

(11,945 posts)I get the impression that it is a baseless meme created for the purpose of attacking Bernie through his supporters. I do not trust those who use the phrase and in fact consider them malicious.
