2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTake a Deeeep Breath, Berners
Yes, I am new to DU but I have been around a long time and have been through campaigns since '72. Everything is proportional. She 'won' Iowa by .3 of a point yet if you look at an electoral map Iowa is hers. Similar problem with a slightly larger margin with her 'winning' Massachusetts. So what if she 'wins' Ohio? The delegates will be apportioned by percentages again. I await the results of Illinois and Missouri but if she 'wins' them too then so what? The worm will turn and the map does not favor her.
I will donate again tonight to Bernie and do everything I can to help nominate him because I believe he is the only person who can win in November and he is the candidate of my lifetime.
For all you Hillary supporters who blocked me on my 3rd post here because I did not understand the 'rules' about 'groups' you need not respond to this OP. Save your breath because you will need it in the future in the event you are defending yourselves for handing this to Trump.
Keep the Faith Berners. It ain't over, it's going to be a long haul and I'm in it for the Long Run.

(172 posts)I can't help but put the worst of the H supporters on here as the face of the candidate. I know I shouldn't. I don't want Bernie being judged by his supporters but it sure is hard not too. I think a craven candidate would attract the same types of people as supporters. Honestly, how hard would it be to meet someone only to find they were a Trump supporter, it would be very hard not to judge on that alone. But, we are fighting the good fight, we can't back down.

(5,787 posts)about the difference between their respective rally here in Des Moines. The Hillary rally lacked the enthusiasm that was apparent in the Bernie rallies. Most folks at the Hillary rally acted like she was some kind of Hollywood starlet whereas Bernie came across as the people candidate.
Land of Enchantment
(1,217 posts)and some can be downright mean but I'm guessing they might just be a little jealous of the enthusiasm for their opponent. I've always thought she started out at her peak and has nowhere to go. She can't grow her base and is, in fact, losin her base bit by bit. I would love to go to a Bernie rally but we vote on June 7th. Rats.

(2,983 posts)Nearly every site I have checked (if not EVERY site) is including the super delegates in their counts. CNN is also doing this somewhat frequently. Going by those numbers, she has more than double his delegates, overall. If, however, we remove the super delegates from the count, her lead becomes far less overwhelming. Still, I do expect that the numbers being repeatedly thrown up are going to convince a lot of people that Sanders is already out of this.
I have to admit, it's a struggle for me tonight. I am watching the Illinois numbers and they don't look good. Looks like we might pull off a win in Missouri, which would be some salve for our wounds, at least. Michigan was a huge upset, which, perhaps, made us a bit over-confident going forward. So each of tonight's defeats, I think, will seem far more significant than they actually are.
There's a number of states still to go, a number of votes still to take place. Particularly... California. The polls there seem to indicate a significant Clinton lead, but Sanders has demonstrated his ability to move forward, to come up from behind. From 3%, to a real challenger. From practically no money, to fund raising that has blown away previous records - most of which comes from regular people.
It will be harder now, a more uphill struggle than it was even before... but we have come up, come forward from so very much less - that I believe we can do this. Bernie Sanders is the man who represents my progressive ideals. Not only does he lead on climate change - he is the only candidate, period, who is giving it the attention and significance it deserves. Let's keep going, keep our enthusiasm and our faith strong until the convention.
Don't take the insults, the ignorance - or the contempt of others to heart. Let them laugh, let them tell us it's hopeless, that it's already over. As long as we remain true to our principles, to what we need, to what we believe in, to what we can do... we will keep this thing moving forward. Let's keep fighting for every vote, for every state and every delegate remaining. We can still do this. It is not mathematically impossible, it is not so severely unlikely as some "experts" are predicting.
I'm not going to give up, I'm not throwing in the towel, nor should anyone else. We can climb that hill, we can win this thing.
Tragl1
(104 posts)If you were to tell me six months ago Bernie would be in the position he is now, I'd have slapped you and called myself Nancy. No offense to Nancy's, just saying. He has a shot, a long shot, but it's a shot. His state wins will keep getting better I have no doubt.
Land of Enchantment
(1,217 posts)oh... I'm sure there are lots of Nancy people in HRC's group and it WAS a Nancy so just 'Don't Call Me Nancy' with deepest apologies to 'Don't Call Me Shirley'.
Seriously, He has a remarkably GOOD chance, shot. It's proportional and thank dog it is not winner take all. Hang in, friend.
Land of Enchantment
(1,217 posts)post. I agree completely. I keep saying she has nowhere to go. She cannot attract new voters and all those points going to Bernie are coming from her base. She might be ahead now but it is a very long and winding road and not for the faint of heart. Thanks again for your time and your support.

(5,668 posts)it's just this ugly comments from the Hillary bullies it sorta takes ones breath away. We'll get back on our feet. besides we have 2 states too close to call and in the 3 states he lost he gained over 100 delegates , now how does that spell a winning strategy to have your opponent win 100 + delegates?? Mind you Obama wasn't settled until the last few weeks.
