Trump is going to tact HARD to the center, and he's probably going to be able to out-left Hillary in some positions.

What I really want to know is has the Democratic Party ever nominated a candidate that has such high unfavorables and then won?

Bill Clinton was 48% in 1992.

Of course, Trump has way worse favorables and Clinton should become favorable again after the primaries once the wounds start healing.

in an election that already favors the opposition party regaining control, only the party faithful (if enough bridges have not been burned beyond repair) will vote for her.

Leftist independents will not. She is toast.

The additional good news for Hillary tonight is that there is a politician who is more unfavorable than her:
Donald Trump

Problem is, as offensive as he is, I've got a feeling they're going to let the new politician have a chance.

The trick for Trump is he has to close it out.

But if it looks like he could get the White House, they will probably let him.

Trump's are worse...which leads Clinton supporters to believe she'll prevail...but I suspect it does more to open a door to a third candidate and send this race to Congress.

God help us all.

And during the general election campaign, they will drive up each other's negatives. Trump with insults about Hillary and focusing on her support for free trade and Wall Street, Hillary using David Brock's opposition research to dig up all kinds of dirt on Trump. This will be a general election between perhaps the two most hated candidates in history with the election determined by voters who hate them both choosing which one they hate the least.
