2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSome Wisdom
This is a perfect time to learn some wisdom about life and living. Recall any of the "underdog" movies you have ever seen. They all go the same way, the same storyline. Samwise Gamgee even talked to Frodo about it, about the stories that stick with you. There are low times. . and Bernie may still not win.
Here's the wisdom for a good and happy life. All you are required to do is to do what you know to be right, without trying to harm anyone. That is what all the great men do, what all the saints do, what all the religions teach. You just keep moving forward and doing the right thing. You are not responsible for whether you win or lose, you are only responsible for doing the right thing. Eventually you will find yourself with a good life. That is how it works. It might not be what you expected, but if you do the right thing, you will end up in a good place.
Take Bernie as an example. Look at those pictures of him being dragged away by the police in chains. I'm sure he didn't feel on top of the world at the time. He wasn't thinking about his going to jail or the consequences, just that he knew that segregation was not right and this was what he could do.
From his record, that's what he did all his life. He is one of the LEAST wealthy people in congress, but look at what a person he is. A happy, energetic, right thinking human being, who has enough to meet his needs. And the others, have lots of wealth, but look at who they have become, probably not the people they aspired to be when they were young.
Just keep doing right and you will never lose yourself as the others do. Not losing yourself is the greatest achievement in life . . not how much money or power you have.

(2,125 posts)First of all, I don't believe for one minute it's over for Bernie.
But, to address your amazing post, you're absolutely correct. Bernie is always on the right side of history. Always. His fight is for us and he will continue to lead an exemplary life in and out of politics. He is someone I can proudly point to and say "I will follow him" because he'll never sell out, never hesitate to do the right thing for the right reason no matter how hard it is or who will try to stand in his way or mock him. What an amazing man. I'm still feeling the Bern!

(5,995 posts)It's like the old saying: It doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's how you play the game.
Bernie has done himself and all of us proud, regardless of the outcome. No one ever expected he'd be so successful, imagine where he'd be if he got one tenth of the coverage Trump's received.
