http://thehill.com/blogs/ballot-box/presidential-races/273248-hispanic-lawmaker-rips-jane-sanders-for-joe-arpaioJane Sanders was touring the outside of Arpaio's "tent city" jail in Phoenix with immigration activists when the sheriff came and spoke with her briefly.
Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.), an outspoken advocate of immigrant rights and a supporter of Hillary Clinton, slammed Sanders for the meeting, saying she was not forceful enough with Arpaio.
"When Jane Sanders visited Joe Arpaio's inhumane detention center, the Sanders campaign had a chance to tell Arpaio to his face that he was wrong and that he needed to resign as many of us have said for years. Instead, they heard him out, thanked him for his 'hospitality' and, contrary to their claims, made their criticisms through a press release and a series of tweets," Gutiérrez told Bloomberg.
"Joe Arpaio doesn't deserve a fair hearing. He is wrong on nearly everything: his immigration policies, his indefinite detention and practices that violate human rights, his tearing families apart, his support of the demagogue Donald Trump. All Joe Arpaio wants is the spotlight and it's a shame the Sanders campaign helped give it to him."

"In particular, she grilled the sheriff on his enforcement of Senate Bill 1070, the 2010 law, nicknamed the papers please statute, that made it a crime to violate federal immigration laws and empowered local police to check immigration status at traffic stops. At one point, Arpaio was housing immigrants snatched up under the law at Tent City.
When Sanders accused Arpaio of being supportive of racial profiling, the sheriff brushed her off.
After the tour, Sanders met with relatives of undocumented immigrants arrested by Arpaios office at the headquarters of the immigrant-rights group Puente.
As the immigrants shared stories of arrests at traffic stops and struggling to navigate their way through the legal system without knowing English or having money to hire a proper lawyer, Sanders wiped away tears. Several times, she reached across the table to clasp hands with people after they shared their stories."

A day before her husband, Sen. Bernie Sanders, was set to hold a presidential campaign rally in Phoenix, Jane Sanders held an impromptu event of her own, verbally sparring with Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio before touring his outdoor jail known as Tent City.

(15,438 posts)supporters as untrustworthy (and we really don't give a squat since we're WINNING and we believe you are) I was asking a serious question.
Why would Jane Sanders give racist sheriff Arpaio a public platform to lie without holding him accountable for the desperate situation at that hellhole that he calls a prison?? I know Bernie said that Arpaio "crashed" the event but, um, it's HIS PRISON. He can come and go as he pleases. Is Jane then so naive to believe he wouldn't come out and "greet" her at his own prison and take over at the sight of cameras and mics? Really?
If Hillary did anything like that and didn't confront him, I'd be really pissed off.
But I guess you're a-ok with it since, well, it's Bernie's wife.
As a side note, Bernie didn't do himself any favors, either, when Arizona's Channel 12 News challenged him on his wife's visit to that hellhole in an interview, and he lost his cool and just walked out of the interview. Again, had Hillary done such a thing you'd be all up in arms, calling her unprofessional and making accusations that she doesn't have the temperament to be president, using the nastiest language you can get away with.
It's time to face the fact that Bernie Sanders is a good Senator but not presidential material.

Photos don't tell the story, so they mean squat.
For example:
Was Jane happily agreeing to something Arpaio said?
Does President Obama have a close and friendly relationship with Putin the dictator? What could they be concocting?
Is Obama best buds with the Bush family?
Does Bernie pal around with warmongering Dems, war criminal buddies, and Goldman Sachs close friends?
Here's where you tell me that I shouldn't take photos out of context. I hope you see the irony in that.

(8,694 posts)There are some among us that feel comfortable voting in their respective states for a candidate that has no problem spending her personal time, away from the public eye and openly calls them "friends":
Bushs (pics of her hugging and laughing with GW on this site now - a person that she 'knows' mislead her and who she capitulated to and voted in favor of the IWR)
Trumps (family friends for years, Donald is a golf buddy of WJC and he also had at least a little to do with Donald running for president)
Kissingers (both HRC and WJC have invoked Henry Kissinger's name as both a friend and mentor to HRC on several occasions. For reference to those that don't know, this is no one to admire.
These are not people any candidate that expects my vote should be calling "friends" nor should any Democrat.

(15,438 posts)She's beating Bernie - badly. Yeah. Tough as nails, but you know that.
Hillary sat through 8 hours of a Republican inquisition and came out fresh and energetic. She didn't ask to leave early. She didn't get up and walk out angrily even though NO ONE (outside Bernie supporters and Republicans) would've blamed her had she done so. She sat there and was attacked, attacked, attacked, and attacked again, and she kept her cool.
Bernie, on the other hand, can't take a couple of minutes questioning by a local reporter on Channel 12 in Arizona before he abruptly gets up and walks out because that reporter had the temerity to ask him about Jane's visit to Sheriff Racist's tent hellhole. VERY unprofessional. He doesn't have the temperament to be president. And the majority of Americans voting in the Democratic Party agree with that assessment.

For Clinton, less than 17% are $200 or less.
51% of Clinton donors have given as much as they can give for the rest of the primary (some already eating into their GE maximum but I could not determine a specific number) and almost 5% have given all they can give for the entire election.
Sanders isn't the one running out of money and potentially facing a billionaire in the GE.

In the statement, Jane Sanders had some harsh criticism for Arpaio.
What I saw and heard firsthand today by visiting with the families and seeing tent city was very disturbing, Sanders said. Sheriff Arpaio did not even attempt to explain or excuse his inhumane treatment of people of color not that he could. That kind of attitude toward our fellow human beings is completely unacceptable, especially in elected officials and those who would seek public office.

(45,319 posts)FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont took on one of Arizonas most contentious political figures at a rally on Thursday, calling Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County a bully and accusing him of un-American behavior.
Mr. Sanders was introduced at the rally on Thursday by Katherine Figueroa Bueno, a teenage immigration activist who, at the age of 9, saw her parents being detained on television in a workplace raid led by Sheriff Arpaio.
Arpaio took away my childhood, because I had to grow up from one week to another, she said. I am one of millions of other kids that are left behind. I want all deportations to stop, thats why we need Bernie Sanders to be our president, she said.

"The fact that he crashed her meeting is, to me, very, very wrong, not something he should have done. Thank you very much.
