If HRC gets nominated, she'll lose if she reduces her pitch to "it's enough that I'm not Trump".

We can't win with lesser-evil campaigns anymore, and we have no need to settle for that.

Whoever we nominate needs to actually run a positive and clearly progressive campaign, one that validates activism and embraces a democratic, anti-corporate agenda.

There are no votes we could get from anyone to HRC's right.

And since they can't win, as Trump is showing, without appealing to a very nasty core base, a more likely scenario is that a left leaning party crops up. But that's super long term.

The problem is, as you say, the Republican base is very nasty. Romney was not assured of clinching the nomination in 2012, and he was fairly moderate. I am not sure the base would go for a guy like that anymore.

I believe you are right -- as the Democratic party shifts further rightward towards business-friendly policies, we may see the emergence of something of a Labor party.

He wants to deport people to the tune hundreds of thousands a year, wants to bring back torture.

Please, tell me how Trump can run a more "credible" "loving" campaign, it sounds fascinating. "Make America Great Again" is not a moto of someone who wants to bring "greatness" to America, it's code speak for a racist bigoted campaign.

The protests against Trump are going to be massive. Thousands of people, he won't be able to have a rally anywhere without massive protests.

...it'd be the greatest political maneuver of all time. All time.

I do think Clinton encouraged him to get in to politics, but not in his wildest dreams could he have foreseen how epic it is. If there was a sort of gentlemens agreement (the wildest conspiracy I can imagine since I can't see Trump willingly falling on his sword for anyone), you can bet Trump would come out and say it.

"I wanted to make America great again by showing just how easily a reality star could scrounge up the deepest hate of the country! It was all a show! Do you think I really believe in deporting millions of people?!? Do you know the logistics of that? How insane that is? Yet you fools ate it up!"

Trump is not magnanimous. This is a guy who shits on gold toilets.

Ok. So Hillary is doing better than trump right now, but what about the others in bold? How do you know that they won't get behind Trump? Also, this data confirms low turnout on the Democratic side.

anything could happen between now and the rest of the primaries, but if anyone takes this data seriously, then the democratic party is in dire peril. The GOP candidates have more voters on their side than Hillary, Bernie, and O'Malley combined. Whether you're a Berner or with Hillary, this is a problem.

How many seats have Dems lost since 08? How did the mid-terms go for Obama?

Obama has charm and charisma. Hillary has neither plus tonnage of baggage. She was already deemed inferior to Obama and now the Republicans are fired up from being the "out of power" party and having Hillary get the nomination will just add fuel to that fire.

because every time she opens it she inserts her foot. That's the DWS strategy; keep her out of sight and keep their friend Drumpf talking the crazy talk for as long as possible, distracting the media away from her so that the only thing that anyone is discussing is how awful he is. She thinks that she can easily win on name recognition and being "not Trump". Seriously; she's as weak as Dukakis, but with a lot more baggage. The DNC is determined to stay on this suicide mission, though.
