THIS is what coalition-building looks like

from Daily Kos: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2015/10/25/1439115/-Hillary-Clinton-s-Campaign-Sharing-Data-Funds-with-State-Parties

Hillary Clinton's Campaign Sharing Data/Funds with State Parties

Just got off of Robby Mook's conference call for Hillary Clinton volunteers, and he mentioned in passing that all of the voter data that the campaign is collecting for Clinton is being shared with state parties. Mook explicitly stated that they are doing this to directly combat midterm voting dropoffs, to avoid a repeat of 2014.

So I did some googling, and found this from Bloomberg.

The Clinton campaign now has deals in place with the Democratic parties in Florida, Nevada, Ohio, South Carolina, and Texas, among other states and Puerto Rico, to create "victory funds." Contributions to those funds will be divided between the respective state parties and Clinton's primary campaign war chest.

Clinton has stressed that she wants her campaign and candidacy to boost other Democrats all the way down the ticket. Helping channel donors' support for her into state parties is one way to leverage her fundraising power on behalf of other candidates—and to link the success of other Democrats to her own.

The Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee announced a fundraising agreement in late August, making it possible for donors to give to her campaign and to the party's general election fund with one check. Clinton would only benefit from the money if she becomes the Democratic nominee.

Nobody seems to be talking about this, but it seems like a BFD to me.

Clinton is using her superstar status and fundraising prowess to directly benefit the downticket races that we need to win to rebuild the Democratic party nationwide.

She is the only candidate we have that is in the position to do this, and she's doing it.

Those are some blood red states that she's raising money for,

If this ends up a wave election, Clinton is positioning us to ride that wave, even if she is not the nominee.

That is her commitment to the Democratic Party.

Republicans must defend 24 Senate seats, including 6 in toss-up or Democratic-leaning states. Democrats are defending 10 seats #VoteDEM2016

It's crucially important for the future. Our government is a national one, but is made up of representation from all 50 states. This is why the Party supports Hillary Clinton.

a young man walked up to a Clinton staff member and introduced himself as a BS supporter. He then sheepishly asked her for help in obtaining call sheets of registered Democrats and independents in his district.

The staff member indicated that it did not matter who he supported because Hillary had instructed them to assist in down ticket races for all Democrats.

The staff member told him she would be happy to print the sheets and they agreed on a time to meet so she could give them to him. He got them the next day.

That is her commitment to the Democratic Party herself.

Look: I don't often participate in this room, and this drooling Tiger Beat caliber prose is precisely the reason why. Hillary is a career politician and nothing if not a pragmatist. She knows her nomination is likely, and knows she better deliver on her promise to "get things done". She can't do that with a legislature filled with obstructionist Republicans, so she's doing what she can to stack the legislature in her favor.

Yes, there's a chance Bernie could take the election. But it's slim. And if it actually does happen, she'll at least walk away with a few legislators in her pocket and a potential president in her debt.

Not exactly selfless.

If she helps other Democrats, it's because she's selfish. If she does nothing, it's because she's selfish.

Practically no one at DU knew who Sanders was 8 months ago yet the fawning prose that's leveled in his direction, painting him as pure and strong and really, really, nice are beyond comprehension.

She's a career politician with ambitions for the highest office in the land. She's not a fucking saint. It would behoove us all to stop treating her like one.

And the same goes for Sanders supporters as well.

...the candidate shouting about a 'political revolution' would be looking for a legislature which is favorable to his agenda.

Not having one available, with only a couple of legislators supporting his candidacy (even the Progressive Caucus Bernie founded has all but a couple of members supporting Hillary), it might be a good idea to help recruit and support a few more.

But the question is, why are you able to provide a politically realistic criticism of Bernie Sanders, but totally trip over yourself for Hillary Clinton? Better yet, why does anyone trip over themselves for anyone seeking the highest office in the land? They're politicians, not saints.

DU's response of course looks like silence, dismissal and even a thrill at hearing the heroic Reagans credited for doing the exact thing they are detested for not doing.

I can't believe anyone in our Party could say that or think that. The people who are not bothered by those words frighten me almost as much as Trump voters.
