2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHelen Purcell:From Arkansas to Arizona
https://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-10942184.htmlHelen Purcell, Maricopa County's recorder and election director, shows no signs of slowing down - even in an off-election year. Managing her time is Purcell's biggest challenge, as she oversees recording 1 million documents annually and modernizing the state's largest election department. In her fifth term of office, Purcell also serves on a committee drafting new standards for voting systems throughout the United States and on the board of the National Association of Counties, among other organizations. "It's easier now that my family is grown," she says, the mother of two and grandmother of four. Her husband Joe, who Purcell says gave her the valued advice of being honest, consistent and to "learn everything you can," passed away several years ago after 43 years of marriage.

(410 posts)Now what can be done? ... And what is her connection to Clinton?

(19,841 posts)from her present position in AZ.
Also this woman has a powerful post on the committee for "drafting new US voting standards." Uh yeah--how about resigning from that committee, Ms. Purcell, before you get kicked off?
Not alleging any Clinton Co. direct involvement. I don't think they would be quite that stupid. But the question of their history crosses your mind...her hub was Lt Gov under Bill? Interesting. They are so in bed with RethugliCons...who knows?

It's "interesting" is ALL I said. Thanks for your "respects."
These days, absolutely nothing would really surprise me. But no, Hillary Co. is too smart to do anything like directly tamper with the voting. They can just let little helpers help. Nothing wrong with that now is it? It's a time-honored tradition after all. La-de-da. Victory speech. Onward.
Where is Hillary on the topic of the AZ Election theft? I fault her for her silence. Bernie called it a national disgrace. Is Purcell somebody you want deciding on National voting standards? Really?

(31,849 posts)And, frankly, I don't care whether she speaks out on it or not ... with a politician condemning a fiasco and a nickel, I still can't buy a pack of bubble gum.
This, to me, is a feckless as HRC riding Bernie for just calling on Snyder to resign.
marions ghost
(19,841 posts)it would mean something to me if she issued anything on this.
1StrongBlackMan
(31,849 posts)would it change anything that you previously thought about her?
marions ghost
(19,841 posts)but I would give her credit for it--at least for the lip service. Her silence is an indicator of her attitudes towards election theft and corruption.
Maybe she could tell Bullhorn Bill to get out and provide some entertainment for voters stuck in those long lines in the dark...

(410 posts)I know they were in office together ..
One can assume elections take place on the same date, but only if you're from Arkansas
Some reason it matters. ... They served at the same time and are CRONIES

(24,411 posts)Arkansas Helen Purcell met Arkansas Joe Purcell in 1948. She had reportedly just graduated from college and was about to begin a career as a teacher. So, in 1948, that puts her around 22 years old.
So, that would make Arkansas Helen Purcell around 90 years old.
The Arizona Helen Purcell is clearly not 90-years old.
I will say...that is a hell of a coincidence that both women are named Helen Purcell and married to a Joe Purcell.
But it's not her!
Wernothelpless
(410 posts)CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)Maybe someone should just ask her.
Either way, the Internet will figure this one out.
I just don't think the numbers add up.
As stated earlier, the coincidences are just so bizarre that a Helen Purcell/Joe Purcell from Arizona and so are a Helen Purcell/Joe Purcell from Arkansas--who are completely different people. It would be a coincidence of epic proportions.
I just can't get around the numbers. The Arkansas numbers would put her at around 90.

B) Factor in influence by anti-democratic organizations such as ALEC on a Tea Party Republican in an official position, and failure through incompetence becomes the plan.
ALEC: "Well done! Keep calm, play dumb, and this will all blow over. Don't forget, you're now a hero of the Tea Party Patriots!."
Official Statement, paraphrased:
"Well, it's a mess, yes, the election was fraudulent. We Didn't Know! But, golly gee, there's nothing we can do about it now. Stupid voters should have gotten early ballots. That'll teach 'em. They'll know better next time. We certainly can't change the results, can we? Oh well. Best to move along, and get back to business as usual. Nothing more to see here."
