Go ahead Bernie - raise my taxes!

Saw this in the Hillary group. Can't reply because I'm banned by my own request, so as not to get myself in trouble. (I'm banned from the Bernie group - this happened very early! - for posts that weren't even in the Bernie group and in any case just expressed distaste for, IMHO, over-the-top rah rah.)

Anyway....

Caveat - I have no idea where they got their numbers.

Assuming their numbers have some basis in reality, I'd be on the hook for quite a bit more with Bernie.

I DON'T CARE!

I'll admit I'd expect the money to be well-spent, and would be disappointed if it wasn't. But the money itself I can currently afford and would be willing to entrust to Bernie, if he was able to get his programs enacted.

GO BERNIE!

I didn't even particularly write anything critical but I guess because I wasn't up his ass the next thing you know some sensitive person banned me from the Bernie group. But whatever. I'm undecided and could still vote for the guy and wouldn't even be able to post in his group.

As for the taxes, I would be paying about $8000 more in taxes according to his plan, which raised my eyebrow but I am about collectivism and not individualism. I don't mind paying more if I see free college and free healthcare, but I just don't trust it. Don't raise my taxes and most of it goes to gov't waste and bullshit, which is what I can see happening. These ideas are great, but federal gov't is wasteful and he won't be able to fix that. So if you increase my taxes $8000 you best be damn sure I will be on your ass about where its going and how its being implemented.

We'd be on the hook for over $17k more per year. We make less than $150k/year combined. That's insane.

12. Well, I don't know where they got their numbers, or what their agenda is or isn't.

Ours would be about $10k. Again, no idea if that's accurate, but we could afford it. We never see it, actually, except when it goes in the savings account at refund time, as we withhold way more than you're supposed to. And we live in a very cheap house, having always been nervous about expensive houses.

I know we are fortunate, and I'm appreciative.

11. Holy crap would I pay a lot more in taxes according to that.

Wow.

I did vote for Bernie. I'm skeptical about those numbers, and I'm skeptical that he'd be able to get as big a change in the tax structure as he wants. But I should be paying more in taxes and I'm OK with a president who is going to put things right.

Also, we forget when we think about increased taxes that we pay a lot of money in other ways for healthcare. I might as well pay the money in taxes rather than to a health insurance company.

I'm relieved nobody yelled at me for not vetting the source - I have no idea where they got their numbers, nor what their agenda is or isn't. I just posted it because I couldn't comment on it in the Hillary group, and I wanted to comment on it.

Seeing where it was first posted, bias/exaggeration wouldn't surprise me - I woke up this AM realizing it told me my taxes would pretty near double, which strikes me as unlikely for someone making what we do (comfortable but certainly not rich). Then again, the bill on a rollover into my Roth IRA from a former employer was pretty hefty - I guess we're just under where another bracket kicks in.
