2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWashington for Sanders!!!
As a citizen of Washington and a person that has worked as hard as they could (others I know have put in hours I cannot imagine and I know they are in tears of joy right now) to win Washington for Bernie tonight and it came to pass.
BERNIE SANDERS WINS WASHINGTON STATE is the sweetest words I've heard since we won Virginia for an amazing man who became an amazing president.

(14,498 posts)If they ever throw me out of here.... and it's not that far-fetched... I'm relocating to greater Seattle area.
Other parts of the state are cool too. It's not very sunny.... a minus; but I had a melanoma about 20 years ago.
So..... maybe I'll move there for my health.

(8,684 posts)Summer's here, on the west side of the state, are amazing and I've lived a lot of different places.
At least for the 4 summers I've been here, it barely rains in the summer. Most of you rainy weather is November through March and most of those days are cloudy but little to no rain. At least here in Thurston county (Olympia area). Forks, on the coast, gets a lot more rain than we do.
Beautiful state and beautiful people.

(400 posts)Washington (118 delegates) 18% in
Bernie 76%
Hillary 24%
Alaska (20 delegates) 74% of vote in
Bernie 78%
Hillary 21%

(400 posts). . . we had a tremendous, unbelievable crowd. We were at a high school and they'd had to open up an additional floor to hold us all. Parking was a real problem (I had to leave my car in a "No Parking At Any Time" space if I wanted to stay, and I did). The crowd was there overwhelmingly for Bernie. Record turnout. Oh yeah, forgot to say I'm now a Bernie delegate. K&R

(721 posts)These small state wins don't mean he can close the gap.
I feel it's better we focus on the general election and Donald Trump, dragging out this process doesn't benefit our side.
Now someone will say I am against democratic process. No, I just feel it's impossible for Bernie to win 67% of the remaining delegates, as he would have to do to catch HRC.
It's not realistic.
We need to unite behind the nominee, and mathematics says the nominee will be Hillary Clinton.

And Washington isn't exactly a "small state."

(4,225 posts)and we've voted for every Democratic presidential nominee since, and including, 1988.
Nevertheless,
Please proceed.

(1,432 posts)No thanks. But if you are happy with the direction this company is moving and are fine with it getting worse. Then feel free to vote for the establishment candidate.
I'm voting for Bernie. That's the only viable candidate the Democratic party has.

(93 posts)We'll focus on securing the nomination as Clinton's path to the nomination is narrowing very rapidly.
Washington and Alaska made it clear that Clinton isn't what they want to represent their interests for the United States. Hopefully Hawai'i will follow suit.
By then, Republicans will have a new problem to face: Bernie Sanders. They got nothing that hasn't been used already.
SylviaD
(721 posts)if you think Bernie would do better against Trump than HRC, you're wrong. She has the experience to turn him inside out in a debate.
JackInGreen
(2,975 posts)Hill can, indeed, turn him inside out. Of that, I've no doubt.
Bernie would make Drumpf turn HIMSELF inside out, far more entertaining and effective.

(6,007 posts)In EVERY poll for MONTHS Bernie beats Trump. In some recent polls Hillary beats Trump.
But Bernie beats Trump by MUCH BIGGER MARGINS than Hillary.
Your idea that Hillary will beat Trump is just your fantasy pipe dream.
And BTW. Cheney and Kissinger have "experience", but, just like Hillary, they have shown themselves to have a complete LACK OF JUDGMENT!
strategery blunder
(4,225 posts)Hillary CANNOT credibly refute that. And that risks losing states like MI, which 1) were devastated by bad trade deals, 2) have seen Rs run riot at the state level for some years now, and 3) we need to win in the GE. At best, she can respond with a counterattack (because let's face it, Trump has baggage of his own). But some of her weaknesses are, how shall we put this, self-inflicted.
The first primary election I was old enough to vote was 2004, and I remember well how devastating "You were for the Iraq war before you were against it" was to John Kerry (fair or not, millions of voters don't understand the nuances of congressional votes).

(8,090 posts)And Sanders would make mincemeat of that silver-spoon loudmouth.
Lizzie Poppet
(10,164 posts)...Bernie would hand Trump his ass.
But much more importantly to GE results, Bernie polls overwhelmingly better among independent voters. That's what will matter more than any other factor in swing states.
SylviaD
(721 posts)...it doesn't matter, because Bernie is not going to be the nominee.

(250 posts)The experience she has is awful. Just because someone has more experience doesn't mean they are a better choice.

(26,549 posts)Your definition of "small state" could use some work.
In addition, those states were either won by Sanders (MI) or Clinton won by a smaller margin than Sanders just won WA (65% in TX and FL).
