2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBernie is horrible to his wife. They have a very troubled marriage. He is known as the Monster.
Yes the video really shows the truth about how Bernie abuses his wife and family.
Jane is so intimidated by him because he is such an awful person to her. He terrorizes his children and grandchildren, as the investigative piece below proves. (two links to different sections.)

At Grandpa Bernie's house in Burlington, Vermont, "Monster" is the latest thing and, soon enough, the senator who wants to be president is growling and chasing after Dylan and his sister, Ella, 7, while they giggle and shriek.
Awful man. Simply horrible.

(57,349 posts)By accusing him of abusing his wife they trivialize actual spousal abuse and marginalize battered women.
To be fair most Hillary supporters are far too classy to do that.

(11,945 posts)So I followed the link and saw the video and what I saw was Jane asking Bernie about something (she approached him with a question), possibly about where to sit, as they were getting ready for his stump speech to start, and he said something like, "go sit over there," Jane looked in that direction and then Jane and the other lady consulted and found places to sit. Jane was just fine with whatever it was.
But the comments from the usual suspects on that thread were nasty and below the belt as usual. We can't expect anything better from them.
Brock and the campaign he represents are desperate and have little of substance to use against Bernie, so they're resorting to rumors about his personal life. Except it has been obvious for months that Jane and Bernie are devoted to one another.

i live in central illinois, dems here know the "marriage can" has never been closed
we try and avoid it but repubs here never stop talking about, the blue dress, monica and now they have carlos danger to add in
they have raised their children on it
before the net, marriages were kind of off limits but now days, if there are "problems" eventually they are going to come to life and most of us do not wish to go thru defending a serial liar again
a very conservative client told me a while back....while they hate obama ,at least he seems to love his wife and family

I know how it works here on DU though: you people have open season on slandering Sanders as everything from a racist to a dirty Jew and we have to take it or have our post hidden or OPs locked. If a Sanders supporter even mumbles a minor criticism of Clinton you people come unglued and start calling us berniebro or worse.

(20,709 posts)all anti-Hillary stuff. We get three or four links to Weekly Standard or Daily Mail or the other ones every day. And then there are all those misleadingly edited Hillary-hate videos posted. There was a time when that kind of stuff would get a hide, but since Bernie fans outnumber Hillary fans, the jury system lets it slide, while hiding anything even slightly critical of Bernie.
But in the end, the internet noise from Bernie fans isn't working. Hillary's comfortably ahead, and she's going to be the nominee.

(7,321 posts)You obviously aren't giving any thought to the impending train wreck with her nomination and possible election, after reading the most recent reports on the new phase the FBI is on track to begin fairly quickly, reports from sources you trust.
I thought maybe you might take some time to give it some serious thought and consideration, wouldn't an indictment be a game changer in your eyes? .
DanTex
(20,709 posts)Sure the investigation is proceeding, but that's not a surprise. Other than right-wingers, few credible people think she's at serious risk of indictment.
2banon
(7,321 posts)I often have to read anything published in these rags with my super lasers to sift through the bias in their reporting, and have to speculate on what might have been omitted in their reports, this is sort of routine for me now.
But even so, a story like this, they're going to have to be damned careful of what they report and put to print. What is published is likely not the full the story for better or worse, but it should be considered important enough to read just the same.
It was the L.A.Times report, published yesterday as a point of reference.
DanTex
(20,709 posts)They just stick to facts.
And that's exactly the reason that Hillary-bashers here prefer linking to the Weekly Standard or Washington Times.

I also believe I recall it simply outlines the next phase, involving plans to conduct interviews with Clinton and others.
But there's a bit more than that in the story, which must needs a certain intellectual instinct based generally on what normally follows.

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Bernie Sanders does not abuse his wife. This is absurd and over-the-top.
You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Mar 28, 2016, 06:17 PM, and the Jury voted 0-7 to LEAVE IT.

Explanation: Alert fail. Satire is as satire does. Though I suspect the alerter knows full well what's behind this post and wants it hidden because it, rightly, pokes fun at the ridiculous talking point of the day from Camp Weathervane.

Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I don't think the alerter understands that this is sarcasm.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: The alerter obviously doesn't get sarcasm, both the articles were absolutely glowing with praise for the uber family man, Bernie Sanders.

I'm not about to stand up and be the one saying he's a wife beater, or that he's a model husband EITHER. I don't know what he is. I will say he's rude as hell to women in public and there is video evidence of that.
Even if he doesn't mean it, he comes off looking like an ass.

And this just looks like shit, no matter what way you play it.
Is it a "dealbreaker?" Hell no.
I don't think ANYONE is going to say "Well, I've been all in for the guy, but NOW that he waved his arm in that woman's face (or shushed, or told his wife to get gone) I am taking my ball and going HOME!" Worst case, people who aren't thrilled anyway regard this as just one more reason to not like him, and people who are undecided might be somewhat dissuaded -- or not.
But it's a great topic to snarl about on the internet.....

He'd do better to be a little less "authentic" in some venues. He comes off like a jerk, even if that's not his intent.
That said, it isn't a dealbreaker for those who adore him, it confirms an expectation with those who dislike him, and the people in the middle, they'll figure out what they think eventually.

And this bitter little remark reflects entirely on you:
The ones affecting the "selective outrage machine" persona in this thread aren't Clinton fans--they see it, they expect it, they don't think much of him for it, but it is what it is. MEH.
The creation of a "Waaaah --being mean to Bernie!!" strawman wasn't the work of Clinton supporters.
smh.
redruddyred
(1,615 posts)MADem
(135,425 posts)The premise in the first post of this thread is that Bernie is being accused of being abusive to his wife (I've not seen that--I've seen his abruptness criticized, though--and that's valid) because of his dismissive motioning at his wife on that stage.
He's not very gracious. I don't think that's news or a surprise. People trying to accuse other people of making that more than what it is are doing that for their own reasons, to promote a sense of faux outrage and unfairness and "being mean to Bernie." It's all an invention, though. "Rude fart" is a long, long way from "wife beater." I think most people who didn't love his 'tude on that clip are closer to the former description than the latter.
And, as I've said at least three times already, no hearts and minds are going to be changed by this. His supporters think his curmudgeonly demeanor is a plus. People who don't like him have just one more reason to give him the hand. Done and done.

Yes when he engages, he gets animated he waves his arms (as does Clinton), and unfortunately the woman was between two men having an argument. I would not call that awful treatment or sexist.
MADem
(135,425 posts)Again...here's my bullet-point analysis.
-Not a dealbreaker.
-Confirms "tempest in a tea pot" for fans, and "What an ass" for opponents.
-Not his finest hour, but at the end of the day it will make little if any difference.
-Gives people something on the internet to carp about.
No one ,but the very few people who are heavily invested (and the uninterested bunch, despite all the back-and-forth here on DU, is MOST of America) will give a hoot, either way....I've never seen Clinton put her hands in people's faces like he does, though. Even Maher said he needs to chain his (CPI) hand to the desk. He is a bit of a "space invader" when he converses.
But--once again--that's not a dealbreaker for those who like him.
