Debates: First she agreed to them but....

....she was just lying like she always does? Is that the take away here?

This is the most bullshit quote for a campaign I've ever read:

“The debates have been very good, but Senator Sanders doesn’t get to decide when we debate, particularly when he’s running a very negative campaign against us. Let’s see if he goes back to the kind of tone he said he was going to set early on. If he does that, then we’ll talk about debates, but we’re not going to talk about it” Benenson said.

She agreed to debates in April and May. She's a snake and the worst kind of politician.

What about Pennsylvania? Delaware? New Jersey?

We didn't have a debate in WA but no one here was complaining.

It's up to her if she wants any more, but she has never committed to one in NY. And they've already had 8 debates and 10 Town Halls -- all of which were broadcast nationally.

Enough already.

Tue Mar 29, 2016, 02:41 AM
Mar 2016

...regarding the Sanders campaign's request for a debate in New York before the New York primary, yes. But Benenson's refusal was broader and mentioned the time but not the place:

“The debates have been very good, but Senator Sanders doesn’t get to decide when we debate, particularly when he’s running a very negative campaign against us. Let’s see if he goes back to the kind of tone he said he was going to set early on. If he does that, then we’ll talk about debates, but we’re not going to talk about it” Benenson said.

Benenson was refusing to discuss debates at all, as is clear from the above and is even clearer in the video.

Even his interviewer recognized that he was completely deflecting by trying to make it all about how Bernie is running his campaign, and claiming that Bernie should be limiting his criticisms to Republicans, which is just nonsense given that we're only a little more than halfway through primary season.

That is condescending and rude and betrays a lack of boundaries. Does Benenson seriously expect Bernie's campaign to take direction from him? I mean, come on.

Ultimately, it just makes Hillary look weak if she can't handle a debate in her own state.

So I guess I'll just go with "Please proceed, Madam Secretary."

That's rich!

Oooo! And Bernie's the one whose "tone" is somehow bad.

Face it Hillary. You don't want a debate because you are afraid you'll get floor mopped by Bernie. On policy and your insidious history.

Try brushing that off your shoulders. Well, you seem to be doing that by saying no more debates. Is that the honorable way to do things? Or are you just trying to game the system because "it's my turn".

My prayer is that this backfires on you. Like in 2008, you are the worst candidate in the Democratic presidential race. Your only saving grace is that you are marginally better than what the GOP is offering.

From my take, that margin is mighty thin. The national polls seem to agree with me.

It was David Brock's interpretation of the video, that somehow this makes Bernie some kind of an evil misogynist asshole. This is right out of the Rove playbook.

And the extent that Hillary does not own this and apologize is the extent that her campaign are a bunch of weasels. BTW, anybody who denies that David Brock is in her inner campaign circle is delusional.

Hillary owns these lies!

Then she has the unbridled hubris to criticize Bernie's "tone.

What a despicable thing to do!

For this alone, Hillary Clinton is a horrible person.

I am limited to an iPhone, so searching for it is problematic.

But trust me, unlike David Brock, I am not making this shit up.

There really is a good explanation for this, too. Bernie uses his arms a lot when he speaks. Just maybe he didn't want to poke Jane's eye out.

See? There is a more prosaic explanation than Bernie is a wife abusing misogynist.

Much ado about nothing if you ask me. Exploited by the Hillary Clinton campaign! (who seem to have no ethics whatsoever)

And yup! It was Brock who started it.

The front-runner may be too gracious to try to renegotiate personally, but it would be a poor campaign manager who didn't try for a little extra leverage.

If the candidate herself doesn't "clarify" soon, though, she'll own this stonewalling.
