Hillary Clinton argued Monday that Senate Republican leaders refusal to consider President Barack Obamas Supreme Court nominee is just the latest symptom of the same illness that has put Donald Trump on a path to the partys presidential nomination.
In challenging the nomination of Merrick Garland, Republicans are showing the same disregard for the rule of law that has given rise to the extremist candidacies of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, the Democratic front-runner said at the University of Wisconsin at Madison during a speech focused on laying out her views on the high court.
Clinton said she agrees with many in the Republican establishment who say a Trump nomination will set their party back decades. It all started with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnells vow to obstruct Obama which, she said, led to Trumps racist campaign to discredit the presidents citizenship and to Cruzs strategy to hold the government hostage to get his way.
