Rebecca Kraus: I Saw Hillary Clinton in Person. I Was Surprised.

Calls of “I love you Hillary,” and “Madam President” percolate in the crowd, but she doesn’t respond. She has more to say.

When the microphone stops working, she handles it like a champ. She says this would be a good opportunity to be quiet. Then off the cuff, she remarks about how she gets criticized for speaking too soft, or too loud, smiling too much, or not enough. All this judgment seems to be launched at her, in no small measure, because of her gender.

Looking around at the range of eager faces in the crowd, I reject the way she and her supporters have been simplified and demonized. I know of hundreds of staffers and volunteers who are working their hearts out, and millions (not just millionaires) have already voted for her.

9:40pm
As the evening winds down, and we hear Katie Perry’s anthem “Roar,” there’s a buzz in the air of having just witnessed history. Hillary calls on us to volunteer some more, to get involved, and be engaged. To that I say, of course!

And more than ever, I hope to say Madam President.

Blah, Blah, Blah.... to refuse to debate the frumpy old man from Vermont speaks volumes about her "character..."

Ooop... I just heard that now she is ... going to debate.... or is that another Town Hall? And we are supposed to be confident about a candidate who makes another misjudgement ... again not having thought through potential vs PROBABLE consequences before hopping out with her "campaign strategist" on CNN to declare... "NO New York Debate..." because Bernie's "tone" was too harsh... (Not the sharpest "strategist" in the Strategery Tool Box)... To NOT figure that there would an uproar of commentary from a YUUUUGGGEEE peanut gallery blasting said inevitable one with unspeakable social media ridicule such that she would have to ....
BACK DOWN and accept the debate...

This dust-up in the Clinton Inc. Strategery dept. represents just one more example of just how important having exceptionally good judgement matters in not only a campaign but when one is entrusted with the responsibilities associated with occupying an appointed or elected government office.

In comparison, Bernie has surrounded himself with quality political strategists who have demonstrated a consistent propensity for making quality well thought out decisions. Pretty close to being a faux pas free campaign thus far. Something to think about when the responsibilities inherent in the role of the Presidency is...

Making quality decisions ... THE FIRST TIME... Because in many cases... There ARE NO DO OVERS And The Consequences Can Be HARSH! So who do you want picking up that phone at 03:00AM?

If Sanders were the front runner, you would be agreeing with his decision to refuse further debate requests from Hillary. You wouldn't be calling him unpresidential for it. Why is it OK for men to be smart politicians but not for women?

Where the agreed on for him to give a NH debate because she was losing the polls in NH and wanted to debate. He was leading in polls and tied in Delegate count and yet he gave her a debate. I guess that tells allot about character of each and how Hillary gets what she wants and then to hell with all else.

Refusing an additional debate would only have been wise if he was leading nationally.

But who cares about facts any more, eh? As long as something can be construed as telling you something bad about the character of Hillary Clinton, it is extremely convincing around here!

Really, you think President Obama would choose as secretary of state someone who will "say anything"?

Hillary Clinton does not play the victim; that's another baseless accusation. I am not Hillary Clinton. I see sexism. If you don't see it, good for you for having lived such a charmed life that Bernie Sanders's behavior in debates does not remind you of horrible past experiences with male co-workers who couldn't stand it that you were smarter than them.

Those things are done for unity, and you know that.

But didn't he tell her he didn't want Blumenthal in his administration? And what happened there?

And wasn't she told no about the Blackberry? And so she went and set up her own fucking server outside of the government like an idiot. So what is happening there? And what have we discovered since then?

And then there's Lanny Davis, and his involvement with Clinton in Honduras to get things started.

Thanks what I thought. So back to being a liar, and saying or doing anything. And yes, Power to the Rich - screw the people.

Tue Mar 29, 2016, 08:55 PM

The DNC had set up a debate schedule to protect Hillary's lead, but she found herself in a hole early. She asked for a debate with Sanders and he agreed so long as she agreed to EVEN MORE DEBATES.

Sanders, whether ahead or behind, would debate her anytime.

You apply Clintonian ethics (rather the lack thereof) onto Bernie. Then you try to hide behind a dubious sexism angle.

And there is no sexism at all in the Bernie campaign! That's why his campaign does not even have women in its top ranks:

http://theslot.jezebel.com/an-investigation-which-presidential-campaigns-have-the-1762895557

A "dubious sexism angle" to "hide behind" indeed! We women shouldn't even be asking for equal representation and equal pay! And we're somehow supposed to believe that a man who can't pay women equally or promote women to the top ranks of his campaign would be a better deal for women than a woman who pays women equally to men and has equal representation of men and women in the top ranks of her campaign.

Saying that someone "made up a story" is in no way saying they lied. Sure.

People sometimes forget. They make mistakes. It's no reason to claim they made stuff up. Especially since it takes a few seconds to type the title of their post into Google -- less time, I'm sure, then it took you to accuse them of making things up.

"Then off the cuff, she remarks about how she gets criticized for speaking too soft, or too loud, smiling too much, or not enough."

Apart from the doubtful honesty here (when & where has she been criticized for not smiling enough? Is she an actress in a show for us?) why does she expect us to give a damn about this stupid trivia? But we're not really there -- she's lost in her own world. We only matter insofar as interaction with us helps her reach her final goal, the presidency.

I saw HRC speak in Harrisburg, PA in 2008--brought my two teenage girls and one of their friends. We had the same reaction, we cheered for HRC like crazy, and were proud when PA went for her.

That was eight long years ago, and the country has changed. I've changed. My girls have, too. Much as we'd love to support a woman, we care about character and content of message more.

But I appreciate what this young lady, a "content strategist" and
"entertainment journalist" experienced. We had a similar reaction to HRC years ago.

I guess we all start somewhere.
