2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumStatisticians: Has anyone computed the odds of Clinton's SOS actions and beneficial $$$ transactions
happening again, and again, and again...... ?
The Clintons say one has nothing to do with the other.
Okay. So what are the odds that there would be business before the State Dept.
or business that the State Dept involved itself in (e.g., http://www.wsj.com/articles/ubs-deal-shows-clintons-complicated-ties-1438223492)
or favors done (http://www.democraticunderground.com/12511181495)
and that money would be paid to Bill Clinton (speeches AND consulting fees) and donations be made to the Clinton foundation around that time again and again and again?
Statistically, what are the odds of that randomly occurring?
And considering the fact that new examples are forever coming to light it would seem that those odds are ever increasing ... Though with the lack of transparency we will probably never know the true number of occurrences.

(10,110 posts)wasn't being paid by the Clinton Foundation.
When the pundits and surrogates start flinging that crap at her during the general election, a bunch of it is going to stick - no matter what the FBI says.
Billions of dollars in weapons deals get approved by Hillary and both sides of those deals give millions to the Clinton Foundation.
Even if it was all on the up and up and there was nothing sinister going on, it was an incredibly stupid thing to allow to happen because of the public perception - particularly if you're going to run for President.
She's either dishonest, stupid or both and I don't think there are any other really plausible options of substance for conclusion.
Like the email mess, it's so stupid it's beyond words. The president needs to be able to look into the crystal further than five minutes or the time it takes to cash a big check and get an accurate read now and then. Her Irag war vote, her flips flops, the email mess and this certify that this is something that she simply cannot do with much reliability. Her vision is awful.
Why would you want someone that stupid running the country? I don't get it.

(10,110 posts)I'm not completely or blindly confident in them either. But I still try to give them the benefit of the doubt.
From what I've heard about Comey, he's going to tell it like it is.
Comey and the FBI didn't take millions from Saudi Arabia and Boeing. Hillary and Bill did. And it's not all for charity because Huma and Sidney are on the foundation payroll.
But Comey can't prove she didn't do this stuff with the Clinton Foundation. All he can really say in the best case is they didn't find evidence to prove that she did do it. And then the mud flicking starts or resumes.
It's how it is and how it will be. Hillary & Bill knew it and now she'll have to pay the price ... for being stupid. It's not the first time it's happened to the Clintons but it might be the last.
It's frustrating and sad because it threatens to open the doors to the Oval Office to the neanderthals heading up the GOP.
Nobody can be absolutely sure they were being dishonest with quid pro quo but it was a certifiably stupid thing to do or to allow on their watch - after all the crap they've been through going back to Whitewater and Cattlegate. I really don't think that's seriously debatable.

(10,110 posts)but it can't prove they didn't.
I think it will be a hard case to prove but an easy one to insinuate corruption during a campaign.

(10,110 posts)But we do have things like the Iraq war or swiftboating John Kerry where Americans get duped and don't have all the accurate facts.
As much as I like Bernie, I would not want to see the Clintons damaged by something like that.
I'm a Bernie supporter but I still believe in the justice system. The Clintons are innocent until proven otherwise.
If a bunch of hard evidence comes out that makes them look really guilty, that's their problem.
But if it's conspiracy theory nonsense trying to deceive Americans about some aspect of the Clintons (like the Kerry swiftboating), I'll defend the Clintons in a heartbeat - even if Bernie is still running.
If Americans fairly know the truth about both candidates and my preferred candidate winds up on the short end of the stick in the vote, I can live with that because it's democracy.

(12,685 posts)They can run a series of ads and all the Clintons will be able to argue is it's just a coincidence.
If they think people are angry now, wait until this stuff become common knowledge.
And they know that the politicians in DC already know this. They will begin to wonder why in the hell my elected Democrat is supporting this.

(3,017 posts)And to do favors for every big money person and entity. Then you can't prove any connection. If you only took money from one company per industry and they got all the favors, the connection would be apparent. I think their theory is that a thousand scandals are better than one scandal, because people get overwhelmed with it and just throw their hands up.
