2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIt is time for political pay back - Using the gift that Bernie has given us
The Clinton mafia cannot function without their bought and paid for Capo's, Soldier's and Associates. With each passing primary, after the election fraud-du-jour has been exposed, and the voters disenfranchised, we always find the fingerprints of the Clinton operatives. (I now understand the term "machine politics", and why Chicago is the way it is, and why Rahm is the Mayor)In many cases these are elected officials.
Bernie has already accomplished more in this race that I thought could be possible. An entire generation is plugged in to the voting process. The unbelievable skills of this generation with social media and telecommunications is changing the entire landscape of retail politics. And the pace at which this occurring is quite accelerated. Team Clinton, always fighting the previous battle, simply cannot get on the offensive, unless it is an attempt to slime.
These machine style operative are about to feel....oh, I don't know..the Bern? One such is Reverend Robert Vinson Brannum, Chairman Ward 5 Democratic committee. (202-256-8452).
With the local organizing expertise that the Bernie campaign has developed over the past year, (and who can argue with their results?), I imagine this is how we are going to flip seats in congress, (Canova WILL beat DWS), and flip out these machine operatives who are quite often world class sell outs hiding behind the fig leaf of public service.

(3,160 posts)you may remain on the sidelines, or in bed, but thankfully every night I see 10 or 30 thousand people who choose otherwise, and who will organize to boot these bums out of office. This the meaning of a political revolution. Peaceful and effective.

(7,318 posts)in the current news cycle. Simply put, Brannum was just the useful 'idiot' in this scenario and is not worth any sort of effort at "retribution".
So who, if anyone, might have at least capitalized on, if not created, this situation? Well, the people involved with this in the D.C. Dem Party are, without a doubt, inept, whether you believe this was a case of corruption or "an administrative error". The error explanation means that those involved are so incredibly inept that they couldn't even get a simple email off in time to meet a well-known election deadline. That is their party's most basic function-getting Democrats, their members, elected to positions of power. Understanding the machinations of elections and following election rules to a 'T' are how it's done. They couldn't get it done. If it's corruption-someone in the tank for Clinton-it was of the most bumbling, discoverable kind. Again: inept. Either way, those involved need to be fired.
I am more interested in what happened behind the scenes at the D.C.B.O.E. It would have taken only one person there (not a conspiracy), a Clinton supporter most likely, to recognize an opportunity that fell in their lap and run with it. 'They' then dangled the bait and Brannum was simply the first fish to get to it--any fish would have done.
Are you in the D.C. area, Flat?

As for Canova, I am not sure why you are so convinced that his win is assured. Putting aside that I don't even agree that all Bernie voters will automatically vote against DWS, Hillary won Debbie's congressional district in a landslide.

(740 posts)Mafia, "Capo's", "Soldier's"?
Where have I heard those words in association with the Clintons before? Oh yeah, places like Townhall, Free Republic and Stormfront.
It was lies 25 years ago and it is lies now.
I'm surprised you left out 'jack-booted thugs'.
Seriously, wtf?
