NY exit polls show huge race gap, Sanders only won white men4/19/16 9:40pm by John Aravosis
Now that Hillary has won the New York primary, CNN has published its exit polling for the New York primary today, and its devastating to Bernie Sanders attempt to shake off the perception that hes the candidate of young white people.
In fact, CNNs data shows that it is in fact unfair to call Sanders the candidate of white people. Hes the candidate of white men.
Hillary Clinton won every other demographic, including white women, black men, black women and latino women. (CNN didnt have data for latino men.)

(2,642 posts)We, and Hillary, have endured months of hatred, insults, lies, and alert stalking from Sanders supporters.
It's time for us to take our party and by extension, this forum, back from the Bernouts.

(9,313 posts)...candidate bashing are to be forced off DU because we are supporting our candidate through the convention?
I don't know how thrilled Skinner would be with that. It would mean losing quite a few long time star members.
And if you don't understand WHY so many of us are committed to seeing this through until every state has voted, perhaps this will help:

(11,076 posts)How can that possibly be interpreted. Bernie supporters are good people. They have a huge concern for the greater good. The fact that Hillary supporters can not see the insult is a big part of the problem. Can you tell me the biggest reason you support Hillary? This is a serious question. I am trying to figure out why I could support her. If you answer me, you will be the first to do so. Thanks in advance.

(61,539 posts)There's no question that there are right wing trolls (bernouts) on this website, and I imagine that true Bernie supporters would be as glad as any of us to see them leave.
To answer your second question - I don't view Hillary as the evil demon she is sometimes portrayed here. She is more conservative than I am (as is Obama), but her record is quite progressive in many ways. I agree with many of Bernie's positions - especially his statements about the environment - but I am not persuaded that he would win the GE. I think that Hillary can, and she would be a decent moderate Democratic president.
I especially appreciate the Clintons' skill at getting down ticket Democrats elected. It's essential. The country is suffering terribly from a Republican takeover. We need Democratic Congress people, governors, state legislators.
You should see what the Republicans are doing to my state.

(53,742 posts)how for the last several months just about four out of five posts on the front page of DU were either touting Sanders up the yin yang or bashing Clinton for allegedly being corrupt, being a liar and criminal about to be perp-walked away in cuffs, being a corporatist, warmonger and finally a corporate whore.
It got to be too much. And then of course there was all the alert stalking, the Stockholm Syndrome-like posts, all the hectoring of the Bernie or Bust crowd.
Maybe we can get back to a fair balance here.

This phenomenon is way beyond DU. Many of us have experienced it.

(9,313 posts)It's hard to see a negative -- to see the ones who refuse to join in the attacks -- but we're out here and we are by far the majority of the Sanders supporters. I strongly believe that.
Just as I believe that the noisy, relentless, Bernie bashers I encounter here represent a small minority of Clinton's supporters.
What you are talking about aren't Sanders supporters. They are Energy Creatures, or ECs. They sap the hope and confidence we need to bring about change of any kind. They take up time. They suck the life out of things. There is no reasoning because there is no dialog. ECs don't post calls to action. They complain, namecall, and attack.
There have always been ECs on DU. Some of the names are familiar. I've seen them trolling around since I joined back in 2004. In the context of the primary, they appear as Hillary opponents and Bernie opponents. Instead of being driven by any positive feelings or actions their own candidate might inspire in them, their posting is driven by contempt for "the other guy's candidate." And that contempt is usually expressed as contempt for "the other guy" too.
If you find yourself doing this, you may be becoming an EC yourself. All I can suggest is to resist.

(11,076 posts)Go figure. Hate to say this but even cats, puppies and cows can vote if the outcome is predetermined. I'm from Ohio the home of stolen elections. When irregularities are found all candidates should speak out. Here the observer is deemed a cry baby. If your candidate is in the GE please don't speak out when the inventors of the manipulated vote do it to you! It stinks and has devastating results.

(22,336 posts)And the only group that overall prefers Bernie is white men. Now, I am a white woman who voted for Bernie, so I obviously know it's a generalization, but it's an accurate generalization.
Pointing out the truth about voting trends is not calling anyone racist. Bernie lost NY because, as many people predicted, he wasn't connecting with woman and, particularly, voters of color as much as he needed to. He isn't racist, and I don't imagine at least most of his supporters are racist. But the voting trends tell a story. I think it's very clear that Bernie would have won the nomination if he'd moved away from his belief that fixing economic inequity would fix racism. If he would have regularly and specifically said that racism needs to be attacked jointly with and separately from economic issues, he would have won the whole country. I see that as his only real weakness. I was with him on everything else.
