How can I make such a bold assertion before she has even received the nomination? Because I already did, several months ago, when it was harder, before a single primary or caucus vote had been cast. And yes, I got the Trump part right too.
The air was dense back before Iowa with tales of Jeb, and Rubio and all the rest at the adult and childrens tables. Trump would never be the nominee. A colleague had to literally eat his column predicting that Trump would never win the nomination. It just couldnt happen. Until it did. (I did predict Trump would win Iowa, which he didnt, but close enough applies in horseshoes and hand grenades and primary seasons). I correctly predicted the craven capitulation of the Republican party.
And now with the polls tightening like your clenching teeth (or whatever), speculation is everywhere that Trump will win the election too. He wont. He is going to lose, and lose badly.
Why? Because the Republican party is not the same as the US population. Yes there is overlap, and yes everyone feels the goosebumps of an idiot breaking all the rules and getting applause for it, but Were Not There Yet. The American public, for all its waywardness and depravity and reality-show slumming, has not yet thrown in the towel on trying to have a republic and make it work, the Republican party notwithstanding. Donald Trump is a charlatan and a dangerous one, and this will become abundantly clear as the rest of the campaign unfolds. He can threaten the media and wave his whatever-sized hands all he wants, but it is no big mystery as to what he really is, and barring a level of economic and social dysfunction significantly greater than what we have now, he will go down, and go down in flames.

(4,311 posts)and her pivot to the GE and taking on Trump full time cannot come soon enough.
I am 100% confident she will win in November. Hence my full-throated support for her.

(2,064 posts)because I doubt she would drop out, even under indictment. And Hillary under indictment is still viable against Trump.
Even if she wins, I expect years of impeachment proceedings and general carnival side show bullshit. And the sad thing is Hillary - and her insatiable greed - brought this about. Blame the GOP all you want - and they are deserving of scorn - but this is Hillary's fault, and no one else's.
All she had to do was use the government email server and try to live off her salary, multi-million-dollar book deals and over $600k in annual federal LIFETIME pensions. But that wasn't enough. For the Clintons, they always want more. It's as though they've holes in their souls that they try to fill with money. Greed is like that. No wonder it's a mortal sin.

(98 posts)I sure think she has a much better chance than Bernie.

(2,064 posts)Bernie beat Trump by 9%, while HRC was within the margin of error.
If she gets indicted, we are all royally screwed. I'm not comfortable taking that risk.

(98 posts)If that does happen, I agree, but it's not going to happen. IF, by some chance it did happen, I still don't believe the DNC won't allow Bernie to be our guy. I think Biden will come out and will be the nominee. Biden is a one smart dude. He's tough, smart and knows how the game is played. Biden is very well liked and shouldn't be taken lightly.
But, we'll see soon.
Take care, Yuro.
