2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAs a Bernie supporter.....Hillary DESTROYED Trump today. It was amazing. (Full Video)
My favorite line:
Donald Trump's ideas aren't just different they are dangerously incoherent. They're not even really ideas just a series of bizarre rants, personal feuds, and outright lies.

(47,209 posts)But managed to avoid that scolding tone dudes hate so much! Lawrence OD is about to show a bit of Trunps response and is doing her greatest hits from the speech.
I think it was a very smart open to the GE campaign.

any solutions to our foreign policy problems?

(29,034 posts)She just did what no one else has been able to do, especially in ONE speech.

(2,404 posts)I must say, I was very impressed with Clinton's speech this afternoon. It was witty and on the mark. I do not support much of what Hillary stands for, but there is no doubt that this was her best speech in a very long time.

With a few deletions and emendations here and there, this could have been Marco Rubios stump speech. It was many clicks to the right of Barack Obama

(13,776 posts)This was a glorious example of how to defeat him in November. She sounded calm, cool, and presidential.
The contrast between a real, grown-up, sentient leader (sure, she's not my first choice, but I'll most definitely vote for her) and Trump could not have been clearer.
I'm going to say something that sounds like criticism, but it's really not, because all three of the candidates do it too much (even my Bernie!), not just her: The tone today--quiet and measured--was so much better than when she shouts. I think that when she talks into the microphone, instead of shouting to make a point, she becomes about twenty times more likeable. (I know women's voices are criticized a zillion times more than men's, but I'm a woman, plus I don't like loud voices in anybody.) Maybe Trump's supporters like his sturm und drang, but a calm tone just accentuates the differences between her and him.

(22,651 posts)Republicans had what?, last year 20! 'people running for president' and they end up with a tabloid, reality TV showman-for their convention process.
Republicans would have been pitiful but better off if they re-ran Romney or McCain, or supported their R 'hero' Jeb! Now their party is less then ignorant, they're stupid.

(22,651 posts)Countries are divided into many tiny fighting ethnic groups. Their 'supporters' are pawns, like the regular citizens of the failure-countries are pawns.
A couple of Republicans try to ramp up an independent to run against Trump, if he happens to make it through their convention.
A 'counter' for Republicans would be to use their delegates to nominate someone else at their convention. Clinton/Sanders will steamroll over Trump in a general election. Against any other Republican the general election would be 'harder' for Ds.

Anyone who saw her steely cool-headedness during GOP Trey Gowdy's 11-hour Benghazi farce
like I did can take solace in what she might have to do if/when facing that "phone call at 3 am" in the White House.
