Sanders to Clinton: Yes, Trump's Foreign Policy Ideas Are Scary. But So Are Yours

Sanders to Clinton: Yes, Trump's Foreign Policy Ideas Are Scary. But So Are Yours
'We need a foreign policy based on building coalitions... [not] perpetual warfare in the Middle East'
by Nadia Prupis * June 03, 2016 * Common Dreams

Bernie Sanders responded to Hillary Clinton's foreign policy speech on Thursday with a hit at her credentials, including her involvement in the Iraq War and so-called "regime change" in Libya.

"We need a foreign policy based on building coalitions and making certain that the brave American men and women in our military do not get bogged down in perpetual warfare in the Middle East," he said in a statement. "That's what I will fight for as president."

Earlier Thursday, Clinton gave a speech that laid out her own foreign policy agenda and criticized presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump for his "thin skin" and "dangerously incoherent" ideas.

"Americans aren't just electing a president in November, we're choosing our next commander-in-chief, a person we count on to answer questions of war and peace, life and death," Clinton said. "The person the Republicans have nominated for president cannot do the job."

On that point, Sanders agreed.

However, he added, Clinton wasn't much better.

She has learned from past mistakes but is knowledgeable enough and stable enough to make tough decisions in the future. Trump is scary for what he says he would do going forward. That's what we should be judging Hillary on what she plans on doing going forward. Most of the military brass agree with what she has proposed recently and her suggestion for a no-fly zone, and early help for Syrian rebels was what most in Congress agreed with too. The President decided against that so it never happened.

Deal with the present and who we need to elect going forward not backward.

including me, aren't looking for the DNC to "accommodate" us. We are going to take the DNC over, or take it down and build a better organization in its place, regardless of how long it takes. We don't want reform. We want (and will get) revolution. The Establishment's days are numbered. Time is on OUR side.

Trump is so nuts that his actions will be blocked by the members of both parties.
The republican party agrees with most of her hawkish policies, so there will only be a few dems to stand up against the next war.

we had just come off of a LIHOP, MIHOP or actual Terrorist attack and that allowed him to be able to do what he and the Dick done. Which was destabilize the middle east like its not been in history leading up to that time. Plus the murder of possibly millions of innocent people and destroying a country. A country who was not a threat to us in anyones imagination.

and it's just my 2 cents, is that hillary is, and has always been, the annointed one. the clintons are friends with the trumps. bill talked trump into joining the race, thinking that americans, both dem and rep, would reject him immediately and go to hillary. bernie enters and all hell breaks loose. i don't think trump really wants to be president, and if he IS elected, others will do the governing, just like raygun. anyway...
