(85,986 posts)As the L.A. Times reports, a Sanders campaign staffer said, in an email to the Greek Theatre, that Ryu had set up "roadblocks" that forced the change of venue. Ryu endorsed Clinton and visited a fundraiser for her in March.

(8,760 posts)the article? Secretary Clinton has scheduled an identical event two days later.
The article says "a local Los Angeles city councilman forced us to move from this iconic venue, even though Secretary Clinton has scheduled an identical event two days lateran event to which no objection has been raised"
The tweet from which you derived the headline is false. It misstates the content of the article.

(85,986 posts)....but most people, including many Sanders supporters who've echoed the charge, believe Hillary is masterminding every perceived slight against the Sanders campaign, including the moving of this venue.
Sorry the article didn't flesh that out to your satisfaction.

(1,473 posts)that's what Sanders is accusing them of doing.
Instead, the Sanders campaign alleges personal action from L.A. City Councilman David Ryu, who represents the area around the Greek, "forced" the campaign to change venues. As the campaign explained in an email:
Unfortunately, after reaching terms with the professional staff at the Greek to host our rally, interference from a local Los Angeles city councilman forced us to move from this iconic venue, even though Secretary Clinton has scheduled an identical event two days lateran event to which no objection has been raised."
In reality, however, the "roadblocks" the Sanders campaign speaks of are standard city policy. Where the campaign advertised the concert as a "free" and "open-to-the-public" event, the Greek theatre operates only on a ticket-based system. The tickets can be free, but people inside of the theatre must have been issued a ticket to be there, reports the Los Feliz Ledger.
Sanders' campaign did not have a ticketing system set up for guests to register at the Greek, furnishing only an "RSVP strongly encouraged" statement on its website.
Any person or organization that chooses to have an event at the Greek Theatre needs to follow all the same guidelines," Montemayor said to Times. The Sanders campaign was asked to work with L.A. city staff on a traffic mitigation plan and a ticketing system, just as the Clinton campaign has done for their event on Monday evening. The Sanders campaign chose not to move forward, all while the city held resources for tomorrows event.
Once again Sanders and his supporters can't be bothered with rules. So they didn't follow them and blame Hillary. What else is new.
Neither Sanders nor his supporters ever take responsibility for anything...but they love to take credit for "starting" a revolution about issues we've been fighting for for years and gradually getting legislated while Bernie and Co. whine, dig in their heels and get nothing accomplished.

(1,473 posts)And there is no reason to bring it up unless Weaver is trying to smear Hillary. Right? Otherwise why do people nowhere near this location need to know this information?
and here is Weaver's attempt at connecting HC and implying the councilman is a shill for Hillary...hence the title.
"....councilman forced us to move from this iconic venue, even though Secretary Clinton has scheduled an identical event two days lateran event to which no objection has been raised."
He is making assertions , that like most of his assertions are untrue.
He didn't follow the rules, as I posted, and he got himself moved for that foolish decision.
Maybe you can get them to change the title of the OP so Weaver's intent be obscured as you wish. we'll see.

(6,986 posts)for his own incompetence, whether it's informing Bernie's supporters of registration rules or jeopardizing the campaign's access to voter data or understanding a given state's delegate selection process or basic logistical planning.
Lawsuits and finger-pointing is a poor substitute for a professionally run presidential campaign

(1,473 posts)these fools can't run a lemonade stand and think they're going to pass off their ignorance and shoddy work as cheating.
and some of the supporters are just as ignorant on the election laws etc yet want to come in and take over the Democratic Party and run it ..... into the ground.
I suppose that might be because they know they aren't capable of forming any viable party themselves. That's too much work, so they figure trying a hostile take over from the majority is easier.

(10,476 posts)because they couldn't figure out the logistics in time, nor could they fit into the Theater's ticketed-event-only policy. They then moved the even to the LA Coliseum Plaza (note, not the coliseum itself).
Hillary booked the Greek months ago, tickets allocated, all the ducks in a row.

Stories like this make me wonder what happen to Tad Devine. Did they exile him? That last month ro so if Sanders campaign has been weirdly uneven.

(2,897 posts)Event planning 101: Figure out the rules and regulations of the venue.
The Sanders' organizer should have known about the ticketing system needed for the venue. They dropped the ball, and then sent out an email suggesting that something untoward was happening because a city councilman got in touch with the arena and a Hillary event, which has a ticketing system, is happening 2 days later. These rules are in place for a reason. Tickets allow for the venue and the authorities to appropriately plan for the amount of people and to keep them safe.

(2,542 posts)But hey, Jeff Weaver got to get out from behind the comic book store counter for a few months, making way more money than his failed business ever will. And Tad Devine, well, an average American could retire in style based on how much Devine swindled from the progressive left this primary cycle.

(2,542 posts)He didn't appear to be walking anything back so much as he was offering excuses for why he felt justified in saying it.
I understand what you're trying to say, but I just don't see anywhere on the record where it appears that Sanders expressed genuine remorse or contrition for what he said and how he said it. His whole response amounted to, "But they started it" with no clear evidence to support that.
If he had just admitted that he had misread a headline, it might have all gone away. But he couldn't. He couldn't admit to a simple mistake like misinterpreting a simple newspaper headline, and came out looking like a damn fool.
