2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIf the tables were reversed, and AP called Bernie the presumptive nominee because
he had won the most pledged delegates, and had the most Super Delegates in his court, what would the threads be like here?
The fact remains that whether AP or some other media outlet calls someone the presumptive nominee, there are more issues on the ballot than just the presidential primary, so that should not deter anyone from voting.
It also, shows support for your respective candidate

(30,439 posts)In my opinion, many folks just can't accept the fact that a female has made history...and become the nominee of a major political party.
They can't accept it.

(21,210 posts)her gender does not factor into the dislike and mistrust many feel for her.
Playing the gender card and dismissing legitimate concerns for any negative comments does absolutely nothing to advance the differences on the issues, it is an excuse. I was passed over for promotions because I was a woman, but I also would not try and blame every setback on my gender. Hillary is a very smart woman and has been in the limelight for decades, to diminish each complaint against her as OMG it must be because I am a woman strikes me as silly and disingenuous.
Sorry, I am a woman over 60, she is not the right person for the job IMHO, it has NOTHING to do with gender. She has poor judgement and is swayed more by contributions than she should be, it has nothing to do with gender, but you can continue deluding yourself with that false belief if you so choose.

(4,762 posts)I think misogyny is the key driver of the Bernie supporters' hostility and outrage. It shows in their language. They can't believe thu just got beat by....a woman.
They want so badly to call her the same names they threw at DWS and Barbarba Boxer(c--t and b---h) but that would be a step just over the line into loss of deniability.

(3,995 posts)who have waited our entire lives for a woman to become presidentbecause we thought she would be an advocate for peace and the little people, would stand firmly on her values and principles, and would never let money negatively influence her decisionsare truly disappointed that the left has chosen a candidate so right-of-center and so far removed from the workers of America that the party they fought for their whole lives is now unrecognizable.

(1,820 posts)Clinton is the presumptive winner and you are still beating misogyny like a drum. If the world is so cruel to us woman maybe we should!d just take our toys and go home.
Get over it! People are angry because they feel like their vote is unimportant.

(7,318 posts)Never-the-less, Bernie, the Independent, has walked the walk of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party his whole life. His actions and philosophy make his politics obvious. His politics were so in line with Democrats, that every Dem Party in the 50 states and territories allowed him on their ballot.
It was never the label that chapped people like Clinton and her supporters, it was simply the fact that he primaried her.

(11,945 posts)he'd have read them the riot act.
But then, Bernie is a principled human being.

Politics ain't bean bag. You win by being better at it than your opponent.
But but but a birdie landed on his podium and he is giving away free college educations he has to win!!!!
She beat you. Done and done.

(21,210 posts)requested but not complied with because all business was conducted on her private server, that has delayed any transparency, in addition to her poor judgement on several key issues.
You cannot compare the two, apples and oranges, and Obama was not under investigation by the FBI. You can try and call all these investigations a witch hunt by the right wing, or you can admit there is something not right.
Your choice, and I am so damned tired of hearing it is because she is a woman, just like I was so tired of hearing any criticism of Obama by people in his own party was due to the color of his skin.
Stop hiding behind gender and race and deal with the issues.

(4,835 posts)If 1/1000 of the effort was put into investigating him that has gone into tearing down the Clinton's, he wouldn't fare nearly as well.
Hang on to your dream, but Hillary has a significantly better chance of defeating any right wing candidate they toss at her.
Just the couple of scandals that we know about Sanders would be enough to 'swift boat' him.
The right wants him to win for obvious reasons
