2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI voted today.
Very good experience at the voting place, an elementary school. No lines, nice volunteers.
I'm a strong liberal. Actually to the left of most every candidate. I voted for Hillary Clinton because I feel she and her allies are most likely to further strengthen the accomplishments of the Obama Administration.
I want to see a higher minimum wage, strengthening social security and the affordable care act, more diverse and liberal appointments at all levels of the judiciary, expanding medicare and medicaid, raising taxes on the richest, prudent diplomacy in foreign policy. I do my best offline to make these things a reality, locally where it's most effective.
I appreciate what Sanders and his supporters have brought to the primary season and hope they continue making themselves heard with every local, state, congressional election for many years.
Thanks to all who volunteer assisting people in voting.
Looking forward to voting in November!

(5,811 posts)We need to give her a Congress that will continue the movement forward. Everyone needs to show up in November. We will be fighting for the lives of us all. Think clean drinking water, healthcare, education, jobs, infrastructure

(11,833 posts)That means a lot to me.
I can understand why people voted for Sanders. I applaud everyone who did. I truly hope they continue pushing for economic equality, prison reform, more affordable education, stronger health care for all, less reliance on fossil fuels, better trade deals, getting big money out of elections and less warlike foreign policy. Our present and future depends on their involvement in these issues.
The democratic party can and should welcome them, and do much better at helping them get more involved in these issues going forward. I'm not much of a party politics type person. I prefer doing things locally on a more personal type level.
I hope some day soon to vote for candidates who worked on the Sanders campaign. In all forms, especially locally and in state and congressional elections. And for the presidency too!
