(42,680 posts)The situation facing Sanders and his supporters was no different today than it would have been had the announcement not been made. Sanders strategy was to win big in today's contests, thereby cutting into Clinton's pledged delegate lead and giving Sanders a talking point, along with GE polls, for convincing SDs to switch.
That strategy was unchanged by the announcement last night -- all weekend long it was reported that Clinton was on the verge of becoming the presumptive nominee and would cross that threshold as soon as NJ (which Sanders had basically conceded) was called.
So if Sanders supporters didn't show up today, it's on them and them alone. No one stopped them from voting and Sanders needed their support just as much after the announcement as before.
Turns out that there a bunch of low information or fair-weather revolutionaries out there.

(2,145 posts)many people vote early because it is easier and faster. There were about 10 people there to vote in the 15 minutes we were there. If you watch that parking lot for very long, you see constant coming and going.
