The Next Disruption: Elections?

For those that follow the changing nature of so many sectors of society since the Internet has become what it has, altering so many industries and fields, it's usually labeled as "disruptions" as it shakes the status quo.

Gaming it out, what kind of disruption should happen with elections/voting/registration in this area? I've seen it in science fiction novels for years where they talk about societies that are embedded in this sense, so it's not like it's a new idea. But what would WE like to see the disruption be like?

Or should it be completely disconnected?
