(58,785 posts)arranging separate transportation to a separate office. Best guess, no matter what's declared initially, he'll agree to pursue some of the same goals, even coordinate a bit, but just not together with her. It'll work.
My concern with him is that he could destroy his standing among the American people and end up a bit of a has-been joke. I can accept some trouble from a vigorous, successful Sanders as long as the movement he energized continues on and energizes more people to come out and demand liberal progressive action for a better America.

(4,187 posts)If someone had been that disrespectful and nasty to me, I couldn't even bring myself to meet with them. But I guess that when you're a politician and you win, you have to be the bigger person and let your opponent save face.

(68,868 posts)Obama was a LOT more negative towards Clinton than Sanders was. He won so a lot of that has been forgotten (those of us who supported him just assumed it was justified, and those who supported her have let bygones be bygones).
And, of course, she was a lot worse in 2008 than she was in this race.

(4,187 posts)In that election, I was for Obama, and it looked to me like Obama was a total gentleman and Hillary unnecessarily nasty (though not nearly as nasty as Bernie has been). I'm not discounting your impressions; it's just interesting that we choose what we want to focus on based on our preferences. It's possible to look at the same set of facts and come away with two completely opposing impressions, depending on what one chooses to focus on.
For a long time after the election, I thought Obama should have nothing to do with Clinton. When the primary season started this time around, I wasn't enthusiastic about Hillary. Then I read two articles about her and realized there were tons of reasons to be excited.
ETA: I just re-read what I wrote, and it makes it sound like the change in my attitude toward Clinton happened overnight. It actually happened so gradually that it didn't feel like such a big change. So perhaps there is hope for those who feel they can't possibly vote for Hillary.

Mind you, this was over the mandate, which Clinton wanted to lower costs. We saw what happened with that.
In 2008 it was nastier between the candidates, in 2016 it's been nastier between the supporters.

Let me give you a little hint. The one you're backing can be pretty "disrespectful", "nasty", and if it had been done by the Republicans would have been condemned as borderline racist.
Careful that you don't fall off that high horse you're on.

(934 posts)Says the raggy Daily Mail:
"The website (The Drudge Report) claimed it was leaked by "Clinton staffers" and published an email from one, which read: "Wouldn't we be seeing this on the cover of every magazine if it were HRC."
Is Matt Drudge the latest go to source for reliable information?
Florencenj2point0
(435 posts)and they were not responsible for darkening that portrait of him either. The pic is real, Obama took it, but it was not Hillary's campaign that circulated it. It was Drudge. God knows where he got it, probably some right wing nut oppo research.

(4,187 posts)Why would you use against the Democratic Party's presumptive nominee an attack that was invented by the Republican Party to attack a previous Democratic nominee?
It's not even true, by the way. Hillary has been remarkably consistent as a progressive throughout her adult life.

(236 posts)It has to do with growth and the acquisition of knowledge. The more you learn the more you realize the nuances intrinsic in any decision. Often, winning is about redefining expectations to ac.tually get what you can

(84,711 posts)Hey...she has her former President backing her out on the Campaign Trail and years of "Connections"...and, yet, it took last minute AP Calling the Vote for Hillary the day before 5 States had Voted and then it took Obama recording his Message that Hillary had won on the Same Day that CA had barely started voting to "Put Her Over the Top."
Something just isn't very Democratic about that in the minds of many of us Life Long Democrats.

(85,975 posts)...the person with the most votes and the most delegates always gets the votes of superdelegates. They vote with the people in the end, supporting their candidate of choice in the primary, up to that point, which is their absolute right, like most Democrats.
Funny we didn't hear these same complaints about superdelegates when Obama had such a large share of them. Your campaign needs to address why they failed to get the votes of a majority of Democratic voters and respond to their wishes and desires as much or even more than you expect the losing campaign to get recognition at the convention.
Oh yeah, you folks also need to brush up on your math.
