Related: About this forumCory Booker will be the VP pick.
Book it....no pun intended. He checks all the boxes Hillary needs. He's young, will excite the Obama coalition, well spoken and eloquent, good attack dog, male, good experience, sterling credentials, has executive experience
How will you all feel when Hillary announces him as the VP pick?

(10,597 posts)... but what you just said struck me a riotous funny.
That would make a great 4-6 frame comic for someone like Joel Pett. 1st frame: HRC on left as SOS/Elizabeth Warren on right as Senator; 2nd frame: HRC on left as Dem candidate/Elizabeth Warren on right as Senator; 3rd frame: HRC & Elizabeth Warren as winners of the 2016 Presidential Campaign; 4th frame: Elizabeth Warren being held down to desk in Oval Office by HRC, hair flying everywhere.

(15,234 posts)All of the stereotypes and meme are there for the taking. Both seem to hold the prominent polar position in the Democratic Party. Tina Fey could make an appearance and add to the comedy. You might even get Trump to appear as himself I am sure he could use the extra income in the near future. Any exposure is good publicity for the Donald.

And Clinton wouldn't' be where she is now if not for Wall Street
I think Booker is likely. He is progressive but too progressive that he's likely to do anything Wall street wouldn't' like.

(20,176 posts)Is this Bizarro DU?
Cory Booker is about as progressive as the Obama we got, not the Obama we wanted. The difference is he's about half as smart and a quarter as cunning. It pains me to think unacceptably centrist Hillary would choose someone even slightly to the right of her, like Booker.
On the plus side, he's a better choice than Julian Castro...that's one Democrat that needs to find a new career field outside of politics and government.

(52,152 posts)It would be the flip side of when Kennedy died. Kirk was Senator for a few months (he chose not to run) and then Coakley ran and lost to Brown. The reverse would likely happen in this case. GOP governor picks a person who gets the seat for a few months and the Democrat wins a special election.
Chan790
(20,176 posts)I talked smack about Booker and insinuated that Julian Castro needs to be run out of politics...but Tim Kaine is worse than either. He's the kind of Democrat you kind of wish would go become a Republican so there would be one Republican we can work with, at the same time there's no issue with trying to unseat him.

(31,700 posts)Booker has been described by many as a liberal, a moderate, and a neoliberal. In a July 2013 Salon interview, Booker said that "there's nothing in that realm of progressive politics where you won't find me." However, in a September 2013 interview with The Grio, when asked if he considered himself a progressive, he avoided the term, saying he is a Democrat and an American. George Norcross III described Booker as "a new Democrat a Democrat that's fiscally conservative yet socially progressive." In May 2012, Booker defended Bain Capital's record and criticized Obama's attack on private equity. In response, the Republican National Committee created a petition called I Stand With Cory Booker. Booker has also received criticism from both progressives and liberals, such as Ronald Rice and Rush Holt.

Full disclosure: I want Warren
woolldog
(8,791 posts)I disagree with his defense of Bain's business practices, but on balance, the good far outweighs the bad when it comes to Booker, imo.
Warren is an intriguing choice. But I don't think Warren is suited to playing second fiddle to anyone. And her selection would further erode Clinton's ability to keep to her gender gap problem with men, respectable, which she needs to do to win.
Thanks for posting your thoughts, however.
