A consumer advocate who would have influence as VP because HRC respects her.

6. I think the author of the Vox article brings up some important cons.

And, in addition to those, she'd simply have less influence as VP. I'd rather she stay in her current position.

19. She'd probably have MORE influence. This is 2016, not 1916.

But that's exactly the sort of thing she and Clinton would be discussing. What special projects would she pursue?

Plus, she would undoubted be hugely important in mobilizing public support for what the Clinton administration wanted to accomplish. This role has become increasingly developed for vice presidents, and it is one she is very good at at.

And she'd still preside over the Senate, which would allow her to be as involved in its day-to-day workings as she cares to be, and of course be the tiebreaker vote. She'd no longer get to be one of the 37 who voted against the 63, but she'd get to be the one who joined 50 against 50.

The role of vice president is evolving. Her service could firm up a whole new template, and not in the Cheney mold.

till we have a firm majority.

I like Perez, but I'd prefer to save him for SCOTUS, AG meantime.

11. I almost picked him over Perez and could be convinced Bacerra's the best choice.

But the cons mentioned in the Vox article would be somewhat concerning.

Bacerra is young enough that he could possibly run for POTUS in 2024. A lot can happen between now and then, but just in case there isn't a strong Dem candidate 8 years from now, I'd like Clinton's running mate to be someone who could potentially become POTUS in 2024.

16. On the other hand, it may not matter given how many cons there are to Trump.

Clinton selecting a relatively young Latino who could be Clinton's successor makes a world of sense. As Vox points out, Castro doesn't have much political experience. Of course, neither does Perez. Becerra does, though.

I personally want immigrant rights and institutionalized racism, along with women's rights, to be front and center. That's more or less likely to happen depending on Clinton's VP and Cabinet selections.

Former US House and Recent Senate member. Selection would not impact congress. Well known western political family. Outdoors man and strong environmentalist.
